Fell asleep in the theater watching battlefield earth while on a date. It was a shitty book I couldn't finish, the movie wasn't any better. I only went to see it because it was the only movie playing in town and going out to see a movie was one of the few things for teenagers to do in town on a date. The movie was so bad we both started dozing off. I've never fallen asleep in a theater before or since then.
I hated avatar because I went and seen it in theaters when the 3d movie fad was going on and it was the only way to see it and the 3d shit hurt my eyes and my brain and made the movie completely unenjoyable.

I was pressured into watching the newer tron movie by an old friend of mine from out of town who was in town for a job interview the next day and needed a place to stay. Unbeknownst to me at the time when I said yes before I met up with him, he had at some point in the recent past been prescribed seroquil because for some reason he decided he needed to go and tell a therapist that he was worried that he might one day have the thought that he would want to just go and walk into traffic. Not that he had those thoughts, just that he was worried about the possibility of one day having those thoughts.
Anyway, the seroquil completely fucked his brain and made him insane. Like couldn't keep track of time properly, or conversations or reality. After spending a few hours down at the pub where he got pretty drunk and a trip down to the pharmacist to argue for a while until they gave him an emergency seroquil dose, I hesitantly let him come back and stay the night on my couch just because he had a job interview and I already told him me and my wife had to be up at 5am for work and he had to be up and ready to go when we left so no late drinking and shit. We all get back around midnight and he decides he that we all need to watch tron, right then.
It's not just a movie. It's an experience, it changed his life forever. That fucker's like a three hour movie or something. We told him we'd watch a bit of it but we were going to bed soon. So we put the movie on and from the moment it started he wouldn't shut the fuck up about whatever the fuck was going on on the screen. We put up with that shit for about a half hour then we decide to go to bed. We tell him he can watch the movie but he needs to be ready to leave at 6am no fucking around. He gets mad at us for not appreciating the amazing profound work of art that is tron. I get pissed and rant a bit then go to bed.
I get up in the morning and the first thing I notice is the bedroom door's open a crack and one of the bottles from a case of pop I had sitting there was missing. Go out to the living room and my buddy's just sitting there wide awake staring at the wall. Tells me how he didn't sleep, he just sat there and watched tron 3 times in a row because of how amazing it is. The movie is 3 hours long or so. We started the movie after midnight. This was at 5am I was talking to him. There was literally not enough time for him to even watch the movie twice let alone 3 times.
It gets better though, our roommate got home from work around 2 am. He said when he got home he found my buddy just sitting on the couch staring at the blank tv smoking a cigarette. He didn't even say hi or even acknowledge that our roommate had walked in. Not only was the TV off but he had also unplugged the WiFi router and from what we could figure out he unplugged the router shortly after we went to bed so pretty much he'd just spent the entire night staring at a wall hallucinating that he was watching tron over and over again.
Even after all that and despite him being wide awake he still fucked around come 6 o'clock when I needed to leave and I found out that he decided he was too tired to go to his job interview at 10 so he didn't go and just got on the bus back home instead.
I haven't seen him since but he'll occasionally text me once every few years or so annoying insane shit until I tell him to fuck off again. Last time I talked to him was during covid and he was trying to figure out how he could produce and sell fake vaccine passports. That was actually the most sane he'd seemed for a while and we had a mostly pleasant conversation. There's also this random annoying bunch of texts I got at some point after that I'm like 99% sure were from him but could have been someone else.
