youtube Ads have reached rock bottom

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
For a while it started showing me ads for marijuana. They were obnoxiously loud and the script felt like an aging millennial stoner's first draft. Found it kind of odd an interstate business is trying to sell me a Schedule I controlled substance, but whatever.

This was on a TV, btw. Obviously no one watches ads on a general purpose computer. We don't have to keep beating that horse's corpse.

If you're on Android use the NewPipe app. ReVanced was taken down because in its early stages it had "youtube" in the name of the app so Alphabet sued them. No ads, works just the same.

If you want to Cast to a castable device, TV, or Chromecast, download "Web Video Caster". It works with any website that has media on it. It loads looks at the site, grabs all video or audio media, you select the file from the website, then hit cast. Works for youtube, 123movies, etc.
If you have a smart TV with a store such as a Samsung or LG that locks into only using official apps from their store, you can get the receiver app on the TV's store. Runs on my machine.

There's no reason in 2006+18 you should be watching ads on youtube. If you're on a PC and don't know how to pirate/stream properly- look at my guide:

Go forth and do a fuckin' sping dash.
Revanced is still up and works for me I've got it installed atm and it still gets updates.

I've started to see ads for a shitty health drink, I don't remember the name of it but what I do remember is an AI-generated voice of Jordan Peterson talking about how dementia was also known as type 3 diabetes, it was fucking bizarre.

The absolute worst ones are various tardinfants and their families needing donations to some miracle operations that will almost assuredly fail or buy them a few months. I have no idea how promoting it on YouTube makes money, though it might be a public relations thing.
Nowadays the only commercials I see is some local brands or those weirdass Chinese games that can't possibly be real.

I feel like it has been at least a decade since I've seen something normal like a car commercial.

i am now getting endless betterhelp ads the madness never ends

i want to use invidious but yewtube runs like crap and im not sure which one i can trust
I sometimes use freetube when YouTube tries to make my cpu go nuclear. The only complaint I have is the video suggestion algorithm isn’t as good.

There are addons that will change Firefox to make it seem like you're using Chrome, and rather you can simply do this by changing a few params in options_ui. It's also a lot better for your privacy by removing or blocking all of these from being sent, especially your monitor options/resolution.

Youtube is getting a shitload of flak for shit as of recently as it's apparent they are bitcoin mining or someshit on machines that don't adhere, so it'll likely stop in a few weeks or so. I would recommend removing and redownloading/rethinking your addons. I can write up a guide when I'm not a slobby lazy piece of shit if people want- but it's very simple. Just check out their optionspages guide on their website. There's literally a 0 that needs to be set to 1 to go Chrome-Mode. It's pretty broken half the time and I'm sure YouTube would be able to tell if they really wanted, but I'm sitting at a cool 0.7% CPU and 2% GPU usage with youtube open on my second monitor while watching videos.

Godsend boys.

My favorite ads are the ones you can tell were just whatever landed on the random number generator YouTube uses when it can't figure out who I am to deliver "targeted content". You'll get random local schizos who buy 15 minute ad spots with windows 95 audio visualizations while talking about the ghost of their former family doctor giving them advice about which penny stocks to buy and why the voices in your head should be your doula.

I thought I had autoplayed into some random video but no, it was a genuine ad that our AI overlords somehow let through the filter.

You can buy YouTube Premium for $14/year if you use a VPN set to India (only needed for the initial purchase).
I've been paying about £12 annually for past three years, but recently went to extend and now YouTube India refuses to accept any of my UK cards. The only way around this is to pay with an Indian card, which I don't have. Sub expires in November so will have to come up with a plan B nearer the time.
