so i have a genius idea and im wondering you guys thoughts we need an archive site maybe a peertube instance for all of the good youtube videos meaning none mr beast gaming slop im very worried with the prospects of youtube deleting everything thats not music videos with the 2 year account deletion period they proposed this would mean so much early 2000s kino would be lost forever im sure with P2P we could make it cost feasable please let me know your thoughts i would be willing to upload to it

Wasn't this exact same idea discussed a month ago or something? Nvm I was thinking of this.

Absolutely yes. It hurts to look at old OPs, say, of Kraut or CRP, and see all of the YT embeds of videos that no longer exist. All that history -- gone

I believe that Google slightly altered the policy about deleting accounts, saying that they wouldn't delete ones with videos uploaded on them "at this time." IMO you should have YTDLP running in the background whenever you aren't using your pc if you want to archive old youtube videos in preparation for when that "at this time" changes.

Today I remembered this exists: https://preservetube.com/
Of course I have no idea who runs it so I can't say if it's reliable.
I mean that's the the same story as archive.today (and the author of that freely admits it could go down tomorrow). Really I trust things based on what they have (or have not) done in the past. Internet Archive has censored archives based on troon complaints and Taylor Lorenz, so they are definitely not trustworthy. archive.today and Preservetube have to my knowledge not done that, so they're good for now. I'll be the first to jump if they ever censor anything.
@Markass the Worst told me about that too but im still not really sure how it works
What's there to be unsure about? You enter in a url and it downloads the video and archives it. You can archive whole channels too although it does one video at a time.

There's a box to search for archives of a video and search for archives of a channel. Not every archived video shows up on the homepage.
