I think a lot of the selectivity comes down to the rash of poorly substantiated or outright false allegations that were happening and being taken seriously a couple years back, so over time they got real careful about which allegations they reported on, and also how they framed the reporting on the allegations. I can't exactly bash being more selective on seriously "might cop a lawsuit if I'm wrong" level allegations when clout-chasing based allegations are so rife on the platform.
Zero was more of a Tech thing than a general commentary thing. He got a lot of pushback over that. He's only not at war because Keemstar wrangled Nick, Augie, Tech, and somebody else (I want to say it was Tipster) and they all agreed to stop fucking with each other over it. If that hadn't happened Tech would probably still be sniping back and forth with Nick, Augie, and company about whether Zero is a problem or not.
From what I've seen the commentary bros gave up on James Charles months (maybe over a year? it's all a blur) ago when it became clear he was still messaging people all the damn time without checking ages. They initially latched onto some pretty egregious false allegations which dovetailed with Def Noodles but after that I remember a lot of people just backing away when a fresh batch of allegations happened and it was clear nothing was learned from before. I think the attitude basically let the tea channels deal with his bullshit because it will be endless and not worth parsing through to sort the truth from the bullshit.
Zaptie, that one is really a matter of how much you believe Zaptie. If you don't believe him nothing will convince you. The evidence available and his explanation, taken as true, does give him reasonable doubt that he's not actually a predator, but with that only time will tell.
I'm not familiar with scrim. I've heard the name mentioned unfavorably in the "commentary aids" community but I've not been keeping up with all that consistently.
