Personally, I think he will always be a cucked moderate slightly-right leaning libertarian. There is a demand from a sizable chunk of this audience to be 'edgy' and 'based' and ultimately different from all the more liberal commentators. But since he's still part of the normie commentary sphere he can't be too out of line since then when he gets outed as a fascist from Def Noodles or whatever, the general public will be less willing take his side in the future, he doesn't want to burn that many bridges.

Not surprised he went hard if Tommy's account of how things went down the first time Jadyn sperged the fuck out are accurate, allegedly Nic was the one primarily leading the charge behind the scenes trying to keep people "in the community" from jumping on the obvious tardout for content since he'd been led to believe that Jadyn was actually suicidal, by Jadyn.
