At best, you're just destroying the auteur illusion by interacting regularly with your fans (who will eventually come to resent you). I guess it’s because YouTube communities are incestuous - not only do the rest of them use it, there are also dedicated drama Discords where a lot of their dirty laundry bleeds through the second it happens.

I think it's more that outside forces essentially create it, sort of like the telegram chat for Null that he talked about in the last MATI, and because the creator is usually absent the jannies turn into sex pests which results in the community being closed down until a year later when the cycle repeats.

One reason is to have a place where anyone can get notified if a new video goes out, or a livestream starts. Youtube is notorious for not informing subscribers or even people who click that funny little bell when someone goes live.
Of course, I don't know if that's worth having an autism beehive vibrate until the pedos, stalkers, and other undesirables fall out.

Hard disagree. When a youtuber/twitch streamer goes out and creates a discord, it's their choice. The only outside forces would be similar the one I used above, to help get notifications out when these huge platforms for some reason can't. Jersh didn't have to open a telegram, nor did he have to give those fucks who nabbed the kiwifarms name on telegram his blessing to do so. In fact, I think it was a mistake that he did. His choice though. His mess to clean up when it went to shit as well.
Anytime you make an insular community like that, shit is invariably going to rise to the top, because faggots can't help but make themselves the center of attention.

Apparently the mods of his server held a stream addressing the rumours, it's 3 hours long and can't watch right now, but it was unlisted. I can't archive it so hopefully someone else can download it.
Edit: Twitter of the guy who hosted the stream, he was apparently a mod in the server (can't find his account on nitter so sorry for the kiwis who don't have a Twitter and can't look at his profile).
