Wonder if Tom's trying to switch over to irl documentary content. Maybe not fully but he's spoken before about liking idubbbz docs and he does content with Brandon Buckingham every now and again so I think we can expect to see more of these irl segments. Wouldn't be the worst thing, but its going to be much harder to pump out content constantly when you're doing a full on scene video segment instead of just a voiceover. Maybe that's a good thing

Nick only talks about it because he is friends with Leighton, who was the homo jilted ex-employee that tried to cancel them in the first place. My theory is that this drama pretty much ruined his credibility, so he has no choice but to lean into it. He used to be a normie commentary channel up until it happened.
