Youtube General thread (formerly Youtube Censorship discussion thread)

Showing me the same advert thousands of times will not make me buy your shitty product/service.
Also, I've observed YouTube just allows obvious scam ads with AI-generated videos/voices to lure old people with dementia.
I can understand not being able to review every video thats uploaded by users if they brake any guidelines but there's no excuse for these ads that I'm seeing of cartoon women eating and shitting out men.
There's got to be a better method of making money other than just advertisements and selling people data, I'd just run a subscription model, £1 for 1 month or £10 for a year's access to everything, 98% of people would take that deal, and it would filter out bot accounts.

I like to listen to youtube videos passively while I work and have been losing my shit over this.
This week I have gotten the following 1+hour long ads
1. A prager U video about liberalism vs leftism
2. A black womans podcast about a vaginal cleanse
3. Multiple dogshit AI written audiobooks by bugmen and translated to english (my dragon princess and my vampire system IIRC)
4. A recorded college debate about why we should ban pornography
5. some retard playing a phone game called gogomuffin
6. a video for some sort of PSA or advocacy group that is just women talking about how they were raped
7. Crypto finance "influencer" shill slop

The rape confessional talk piping through my earphone while I'm working is probably the worst though

Just as a public service announcement, I have been using Revanced for years on my Android phone without issue.

Most ads on YT now is some Chinese anime porn game (against their TOS), a get rich quick scheme (against their TOS), or a straight up scam (against their TOS.)

They deserve to die.

I once loaded up the youtube app, and no joke, saw an ad for chatbot that would let you ERP with Lois from Family Guy.

Total Advertiser Death

Fuck Google and their ads, use Invidious or FreeTube.
  • Invidious works best for browsers i.e no download, but has frequent problems with YouTube trying to take the instances down. You can find the instance list Here
  • FreeTube needs to be downloaded but is very stable in my experience. You can download it Here

I've powerleveled about this before but recently, I've noticed that my PS5 has been playing longer... unskippable ads. Like I've been getting forced to watch back to back 1 minute ad rolls every couple of minutes. You used to be able to just report the ads, but they've completely removed the option to do so.

Oh well, you fuckers want to play this game? TOTAL ADBLOCK DEATH.
Imagine having ads on your console. I haven't owned one since I've lived with my parents so I cannot fathom this or why anyone would tolerate it.

I've got ublock origin on my pc, but never got around to getting one on my phone because of low youtube usage, but I've noticed lately that I just don't get ads, I was worried I might have accidentally subscribed to youtube premium, but no from what I've seen.
No idea why it has happened, but I've somehow slipped through the cracks

Invidious seems to be back online, good news

If you have older browsers ads don't play either, or at least if you run noscript on top of that.

I have never had this issue. I feel like all these articles about ADBLOCKS failing is a psy-op. Adblockers seem to be winning the war. Maybe its google chrome users feeling the pinch. Because even chromium based Edge has been perfectly fine for me.
The people who seem to be actually screwed over by this are people who buy premium or allow the ads. Then google decides to fuck them over anyway with ads, higher subscription fees, and longer ads. Classic greedy Pajeet moves, the classic concept of customer loyalty escapes the poop races mind.

I have been using the Brave browser on my phone for years and have avoided ads for a long time, but recently I’ve been starting to see them pop up again. I’ve been trying to find a way to deal with this and I guess here and now is the time to ask if anyone might know.

Somebody earlier in the thread mentioned that they just cleared their cookies and I tried that for myself but it didn’t work. I must retvrn to ad-less freedom and the struggle leaves me restless.

Also TAD.
