Youtube General thread (formerly Youtube Censorship discussion thread)

I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not for this, but how the fuck do you get past Google blocking your self-hosted Invidious/Piped instance? I have it running in a container on a host that has it's traffic being VPN'd but it still gets blocked. I tried proxying the container as well and the same shit happens. Google really fucking hates you bypassing their bullshit.

Look at this bullshit, I am one character off my search and as a result I get nothing related to what I am actually trying to search:

Once I put in that extra character I finally get what I am searching for:

If you look at my search I already have some words that match the title of the video I want to watch as well as some of the channel's name. Somehow, a dude running a YouTube channel with not even 30k subscribers got fucking blacklisted because he talks about the carnivore diet.

There's a famous old clip of a Google guy (Eric Schmidt?) at a TED-Talk-looking event saying that whenever a search returns more than one result, he considers that a fatal error, and the company's mission is to fix it.
Results have shrunk, stupidly, ever since. It first became really noticeable around 2008, I think, when autocomplete stopped suggesting any "based" shit when you'd type something like "why do black people."
"AI" is them finally squashing the bug.

YT's search function has gotten worse and worse over time, but that's because Google's search in general has gotten worse and worse over time. Google will still tell you there are 50 million results for your search, but only show you 100 of them, and they're almost all from the same sites (MSM, YT, reddit, spam sites with Google AdSense on them, etc.).

The worst part about YouTube's search besides not actually being search and respecting the keywords you use is that they insert random fucking sections of shit they think you want to watch that have nothing to do with the search terms. It's unbelievably shit.

LoL, lazerpig (who's a jew) and dresses himself up as a clown general, thinking he's a respectable historian in regards to tanks. I don't know why anyone would give him the time of day. If I had a dime for """unrelated videos""" of youtube showing me things in its results that I DIDN'T ask for, I'd be relatively well off by now.

Especially when they disable embedded videos from playing on other sites, like with songs and Star Trek clips.

What is even the point of disabling videos from playing in embeds on other sites anyway? Those are part of YT.
