Constant growth is unsustainable. First they grow by getting more customers. That’s the golden age. They’re sucking you off so hard your balls turn into raisins. Then they run out of people and have to introduce progressively more aggressive pricing. First, it’s just a couple bucks. Just to get the foot in the door. Then the price keeps rising and rising and rising and rising, eventually it becomes too much, so, they introduce lower tiers with ads. Eventually all tiers start showing some ads, but you can buy the ultra super mega premium VIP tier without ads. Then they start removing functionality. Oh, you want UHD? Gotta buy the UHD upgrade. You want to post comments? No worries, but you have to upgrade your account.

While your ass is being split open by corporate, you’re getting deep throated on the other side by sponsored content. Oh, you don’t like a third of the video being an unskippable commercial? Stop hatin, bro.

Eventually, they’ll put fucking implants in your brains, so even your dreams will have sponsored content.

it will increase burden on other websites meaning they will also have to monetize it more
but youtube could forbid shit like 10 hour videos from unverified accounts to save on space and costs. i wonder what is youtube's biggest expense?

Way ahead of you my sneeda. I've been using yt dlp to grab live performances from bands. That kind of stuff actually be hard to find outside the toobs.

Youtube's pisspoor management leads to this.
Advertisers pay, Youtube will show anything.
You could, in theory, make an advertisement for KiwiFarms or even a youtube alternative, and if they would show it regardless.
This can be seen since they have shown actual scams and virus websites.

YouTube is experimenting with a Final Solution to the Adblocker problem, similar to Twitch, where they inject ads directly into the bitstreams that make up a video, so that an ad is technologically indistinguishable from the content you've requested.

I believe, therefore, that I should remind people that the only thing they truly have is whatever they personally own. In this context, I am referring to downloading copies of videos. I wrote a guide to this here:

For many of you, YouTube will be a place where you've saved videos for over a decade. It's time to save what you want off the platform before they start doing more dumb shit. Whatever you want to keep forever on YouTube should be downloaded as soon as possible.

Ublock is still working for me just fine. But I do think it might be a glitch since I have a specific youtube ad block extension installed but turned off which seems to trick the Tube-Jews into beliving that I have no adblock at all.

Either way if I'm forced to watch ads on youtube I will simply stop watching youtube. Advertisers, in their entirety, should be culled, gassed and dumped in mass graves.

Data hoarders were right as usual. Local storage has never been cheaper. There is literally no reason to not just set up a script to autodownload your subscribed channels' new uploads. Youtube and all social media with over a billion active users should be nationalized

they already do/did and they're unironically not as bad as tech worker scum because once in awhile they are actually responsive to democratic institutions.

Also google ads have been absolutely abysmal for decades. I started degoogling ~10 years ago when I started getting viruses from google ads on random video game wikis. Not that you need a justification to adblock people who are actively trying to destroy you and the free internet.
