Youtube General thread (formerly Youtube Censorship discussion thread)

You guys keep bringing this up and I'm genuinely curious about this dystopian obsession. What if a brainless retarded person who absorbs everything from osmosis, aka the ideal person to be serving ads to, has a very obvious speech impediment due to their mental state and can't complete this hypothetical verbal captcha? Like what if they just stammer out a "middonas" and the system cannot recognize it? I'm talking like someone who just sits around all day watching 40 minute supercuts of Thomas the Tank Engine and Lego shit absorbing every single ad thrown their way. They'd get tangled up on the first ad the first time the program asks them to say "McDonalds" and they wouldn't see any more ads after that.
The "say McDonalds to end commercial" thing is from a real patent. They're smart enough to not push this yet but they've already patented it and I have no doubt this will show up in a commercial product sooner or later

Well I might be buying another NAS or disk shelf and get to working on archiving some more shit. In the end I always knew it was going to go down this way.

Once the gender-confused goblin masters and their pajeet code monkeys at Google set their sights on total adblocker death it was always going to escalate to twitch levels of retardation. This arms race will keep going, who knows for how long, but preparing for anything is a good idea.

Friendly reminder that if you have a Google account and you’re doing any sort of archiving, take care to make sure the two can’t be linked. I wouldn’t put it past them to lock you out of your email or whatever else you have going on. Better yet, make a note to migrate everything away from Google so when they start nuking accounts you don’t get fucked over.

BitChute? They're too small and skew far right, full of conspiracy theory shout show guys, free speechers, and all of that.
I actually have a Bitchute account but I haven't used it in ages because there's just no market there anymore (As in I barely got any views anyway.) and when I was there I swear to god all over the front page it was nothing but the absolute most insane conspiracy bullshit about how the alien frog people are going to crash the moon into the earth and that the rapture is near (At the same time, yes.) Basically, the entire issue is the other platforms are already mostly occupied by schizos kicked off of main platforms that nobody wants to see.

Gentlemen.

It's 2024 and we are experiencing late stage YouTube. The economical situation of the United States and the world at large is forcing the largest companies to make sudden and drastic decisions to try and keep their income higher than their operating expenses, whereas in the past it seemed even the largest companies were happy to operate at a loss or with no profit for years. YouTube in particular had been terminally unprofitable for years, and it seems that pajeet CEOs are calling it: make some fucking money.

YouTube is experimenting with a Final Solution to the Adblocker problem, similar to Twitch, where they inject ads directly into the bitstreams that make up a video, so that an ad is technologically indistinguishable from the content you've requested.

I believe, therefore, that I should remind people that the only thing they truly have is whatever they personally own. In this context, I am referring to downloading copies of videos. I wrote a guide to this here:

For many of you, YouTube will be a place where you've saved videos for over a decade. It's time to save what you want off the platform before they start doing more dumb shit. Whatever you want to keep forever on YouTube should be downloaded as soon as possible.

Are there any lolcow channels I should be archiving?
Ehh, I don't really feel like it

I use yt-dlp to download random shit into an esratztv channel, I guess I'll just find another source if that breaks. Or keep watching my other channels made up of media I store myself.

It's easier than ever to do all this stuff and be a competent home lab admin without being in the trade.

it will increase burden on other websites meaning they will also have to monetize it more
but youtube could forbid shit like 10 hour videos from unverified accounts to save on space and costs. i wonder what is youtube's biggest expense?
Easily their infrastructure costs

I love this. Absolutely adore it. YouTube will occupy more and more of the niggercattle's limited attention span and subconscious thought as he consumes ads as background noise, consumes ads while he falls asleep, consumes ads while some nigger blasts nigger beats on the subway interspersed with the latest in nigger-love-absorption technology.

YouTube is so hard-wired into the average retard's day that stuffing unavoidable ads into all media is a creature of perverse beauty. A worldwide saturation of nothing but nuspeak, self-hate and correct opinions. A vibrant media explosion set to stun and open your wallet. So elegant, so complete. There will be Alphabet. There will be Google. There will be nothing else.

About a year ago I started downloading a fuck ton of media, I originally started when I noticed piracy sites start dropping like flys and has slowly morphed into me cutting my online habits back and moving to a local library of shows, music, games etc. Youtube has been the hardest to cut back on because its so easy to just go and look something up on there (like how to shit etc) This will finally be the thing that helps me cut it out entirely. I vill not watch zee ads.

I Remember using YouTube a lot mostly for interesting remixes and music. That scene is in modern times dead but I went back and grabbed what little still existed on obscure Playlist.

Been moving to non Gmail and other such lately anyways.

That said stacher has been a nice ui when I'm too lazy to command line download.

Grab some obscure Russian crafting videos next, and maybe 1 tech video series I was watching.

Whats funny to me is I basically don't youtube anymore. I dont give a fuck about podcasts or twitch. 90% of media interests me less than whatever old TV show or movie I liked or meant to watch pre clown world. I dunno if that makes me old and lame or based

How to videos of fixing shit will be the hardest to grab or not miss.

I haven't gotten ads on brave while logged into YouTube for years now
I was watching YouTube on Brave today. Nothing. Signed in as usual. Personally I'm taking a wait and see approach. Google is making a fancy mouse trap. I want to see what adblockers like Brave can do to circumvent it before I buy a 8tb HDD and start mass downloading everything.

YouTube generated $31.5B of revenue last year, in 2023. And I doubt their operating expenses consume a quarter of that. They're super profitable, yet they want more. Greedy faggots.

A while ago, I started using Invidious because I noticed that YouTube was consuming more and more RAM and I couldn't stand it anymore. Changes like this, and any possible API changes down the road, could potentially kill off those alternate frontends. I'm downloading all my favorite vids right now. I have enough evergreen content to last me the rest of my life.
