Last tweet was 23 hours ago.

I had the theory that he started a time intensive job and that resulted in him stopping work on video production, but honestly I just think he's lazy and can't be bothered to make videos, and now that he has no Patreon he has no reason to make videos.

and now that he has no Patreon he has no reason to make videos.
Interesting. Did he close it on his own. Or was it closed by Patreon (company)?
I remember last thing he did , before quiting YouTube for year was shilling his patreon and promising he would make videos people want if they give him enough shekels.

I am 100% sure He did it, I have never heard of Patreon closing a account because said account is dormant. (I can actually think of a few examples of accounts abandoned for a while that are still up and taking money.) I don't know why he took it down, he had left it up during his breaks before, maybe he didn't like the expectation of having to make videos, because he had fucked someone over in the past by being lazy and not making a video for a collab, but no solid idea either way.

You have to be a little careful with NORTH 02. Half a year ago, I binged a ton of his videos and he always throws in a random "TRUST THE SCIENCE" IFLS-tier comment in some of his videos (especially on more "controversial" topics with alternative theories). In the video you linked, he does it very condescendingly at 12:14 - 12:53. Maybe he has gotten better? Maybe he's just trying to score good-boy points with the YouTube algorithm gods, but I'm getting increasingly distrustful of YouTubers who randomly give a moral/political blurb on a video about Woolly Mammoths.
I noticed he always portrays prehistoric Europeans as black.

Haven't read up on this thread in a while, but I wanted to give a channel recommendation for my fellow weeaboos. I'm personally not a huge fan of channels like The Shogunate or Linfamy (especially the latter), despite the fact that they primarily cover history of classical and medieval Japan through the context of the samurai, but Buyuuden is the few channels among this particular niche whose content I've been enjoying for the better part of a week now. His videos explain Japanese history as cited directly from the textbooks used by students at Japanese high schools. His voice isn't particularly grating and his production value is pretty solid.

Additionally, despite being a westerner, Buyuuden actually does live in Japan and has a significant amount of cultural context for the topics he covers in his videos. I'm assuming he's some flavor of Humanities teacher at a university or private school but I can only really speculate. Regardless, it's not super relevant. He puts out good stuff even if I thought his collab with The Shogunate was kind of mid.

Dr Allan Barton focusses a lot on English mediaeval history in the form of the built environment of churches and tombs, but also the same in respect of European monarchs whether Holy Roman Emperor Henry VII in Pisa (killed by his doctors) or the swish new mausoleum of the Dutch Royal Family in the Nieuwe Kerk, where members of the House of Orange have been buried. Related to this is his Antiquary Magazine in paper or electronic format. Keeps far away from any current politics, which honestly is a very good policy. Some once interesting channels have tumbled into the anti-SJW rabbithole and end up deserving threads here as much as their targets.

Takeda Shingen ftw btw, Tokugawa is the most soi daimyo and didn't deserve to be the unifier of Japan

Probably the most important Japanese person. His systems stability allowed Japan to develop a modern economy with joint-stock companies, high literacy, highly mobile population and shared national culture.

121-41=80

So 80 of the soldiers were presumeably white then (sans maybe one or two asians or hispanics that might have been in the European theater). Not sure how this is an overepresentation than if a minority was comitting a minority of the rapes that resulted in convictions.
I give you the Wikipedia article on 1945 Katsuyama killing incident if you look at the talk page you can see why they refused to use an English translation of what the Japanese refer to it as... the 'cave of the niggers' where 3 black marines who had been raping local women on Okinowa, the locals beat them to death and threw them in a cave. It was 1996 before they were discovered.

I really liked this Metatron video as it exoposes the main issue with alot of pop history tube and mainstream history in general which is presentism and looking at everything in the past from the point of view of present day ideology.
Presentism is basically just an offshoot of Whig or proggressive history which is that the past, mainly regarding the west, was this evil sexist , homophobic and racist barbaric place and that the present is this shining golden utopia of peace, love and tolerance. Ofcourse to these youtubers and other historians, its only the west thast suffers friom this and only the west that needs to fix its "evil past."
It is no suprise that both Whig history and the concept of the Noble Savage have its origins in the so called "enlightenment" as the past would be viewed as supersitioous and barberic compared to the enlightened rational present wehile at the same time justifying why every culture other than the west is better as can be seen with the noble savage myth.
Presentism is also what motivated much o the 60's counterculture as the Boomers would se themselves as brave heroes against the evil racist sexist and homphobic past.
You can tell how Medival madness the account Metgatron is responding too is looking at history from a self righteous ideoligcal point of view where past is everything he doesnt like and the present is everything he does like along withn showing constant cognititive dissonance and hipocrisy throughout his videos.
While alot of this is often blamed on academia, much of these presentist historians really just spew things they have been tought such as history bneing a oprioggressive straight line as if its the undeniable and undebatable truth.

For a more niche topic, I enjoy Bobby Broccoli for long documentaries on science controversies, mostly people who faked new elements or cloning. He has some old timey Ronny Raygun hate in him, but frankly I find it almost nostalgic if annoying at times. But he doesn't let that get in the way of the facts. I think he's just in his scientist bubble where ignorant politicians and the military are hoarding money to stop guys in lab coats from merrily slamming particles together. His video on the proposed collider in Texas is like that at points, but if you have any common sense it's very obvious how horrendously the project was run just from the facts he presents.

I hate to say this, but he ended a video about some woman with saying he was donating to Trans charities. (The woman wasn't Trans) He isn't full tard yet but he also isn't just a old school Ronald McDonald Hater.

I really like BobbyBroccoli’s work for a number of reasons: it’s all well-researched, well-scripted narrative nonfiction with an absurdly impressive amount of visuals to go along with it. His two-parter on the Hwang Woo-Suk cloning scandal is personal benchmark in quality for what video essayists should aspire to attain in their own work.

And then I watched this video:

I don’t want to give Bobby shit for giving this video heavily feminist rhetoric; it’s pretty evident that self-ascribed feminists in the tech industry were the biggest contributing factor for why the Lena Soderberg isn’t used for image testing anymore, but he also ends the video with this notice:

Needless to say, it put a bad taste in my mouth, since this was one of the last videos I watched while binging his channel.

His Bill Nye videos are similarly libshitty. Stopped watching them after he stated that science is inherently ideologically progressive.

Sorry you had to find out this way. His long form-stuff is still good though.
Yeah, it's fine. That's what I'm interested in anyway. Guess it flew under my radar because not understanding budgets or dead lines is very much a scientist thing, not exclusively libshit. I suppose I can take a bit more pleasure in his grudging admission that putting the Navy in charge of the SCSC was the only time the project made progress with out forgetting to put nearly a million dollar expense in their budget and getting told to fuck off by Congress.
