Google has announced that it’s making a major change to YouTube’s monetization policy that could impact thousands of channels on the platform.

In an update posted on the official support website, YouTube says that it will be updating the monetization policy regarding “original” and “authentic” content. As of July 15, YouTube’s policy will target content that it feels goes against those guidelines.

“In order to monetize as part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), YouTube has always required creators to upload “original” and “authentic” content,” the statement reads. “On July 15, 2025, YouTube is updating our guidelines to better identify mass-produced and repetitious content. This update better reflects what “inauthentic” content looks like today.”

With this new policy, channels that have become known for quickly posting AI-generated videos, copy-paste videos, and, in some cases, reaction content, could find themselves demonetized. That said, it’s currently unknown what YouTube truly deems as “mass-produced” or “repetitious” content.

Insider Gaming has reached out to YouTube for clarification, and will provide an update should a response be received.

This policy change comes not long after YouTube also made an update to its live streaming policy, limiting users under 16 from going live alone on the platform.

Maybe I'm just an optimist but reactors btfo? Show me your "oh no" faces now, thieves.

React channels about to get fucked.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it felt like a couple years back jewtube said they'd crack down on react channels and nothing really came of it besides a couple of the more egregious ones catching the broom, and again in like 2016 when Keemstar was gnoming out over them. I'll believe it when I see it.

I predict this will not effect any real channels/persons. I think it's targeted at the sweatshop video makers that pump out low effort algorithm tuned AI written/animated slop which I have seen proliferating in my youtube feed.
im pretty sure this is targeting XQC and demins specifically, i dont really think asmongold or moistcritical does this like the other 2 do where they just put their face in the corner and barely react to the video.

Honestly, I hope this will kill all the retarded click bait channels with stick figures and the wild stories like "a toilet cleaner stole 20M from the cartel and avoided the FBI" kind of bullshit.

I've seen so many of these bs made up stories in the past few weeks.

I doubt the react content will be affected, it's good for YT to monetize the same shit twice over. They don't care who gets the money.

I imagine that this is all going to be automated, fail miserably at catching the offenders it's supposed to, fuck over small and niche channels, and be impossible to make a protest to a real person unless you have a million or more subs, just like everything else Youtube has. Hopefully this will push more people to alternatives; the only way Youtube will die is if it makes itself worthless for people to use, but it'll have to get a lot worse before that happens.

I'll say a strange opinion; I think, overall, reaction videos are alright and should be a case-by-case scenario. While I certainly won't deny there are absolutely a lot of real reaction slop channels that exist purely to cash in on other peoples' work, I've watched plenty of reaction videos where the people taking part have actual interesting discussions about the content they're participating in, especially in the music sphere. Personally I like watching reactions to things I enjoyed when I was little because I get a little glimmer of happiness seeing that the stuff that brought me joy or strong emotions having the same effects on people today. AI and content-cutters however can absolutely fuck off and get their fudge packed so deep they're spitting chocolate.

God bless america this is great news. Influencers are the pondscum filth of humanity and "react" channels are the pondscum filth of influencers.
I cannot overstate how happy am these worthless leeches are about to get fucked.

When they first started secretly rolling this out a couple years back, a bunch of random vtubers got banned. Lisa from Tsunderia was the only one popular enough to bring attention to it and get it undone. Best guess at the time was that some jeet-bot started identifying animated avatars' limited movements as "repetitive and unoriginal content."

A few months ago, almost every vtuber at Idolcorp (which Lisa had since joined, because she's lucky like that) got demonetized for some kind of "fraud" that nobody could figure out and nobody at YouTube would explain. (Brownoids at /vt/ claimed it was for botting but that didn't make numerical sense, and YouTube doesn't consider botting "fraud," because it benefits them.)

Hey @Null, something you'll really enjoy is about to happen.
Wait you're telling me this might also fuck over V-tumors?! WTF I love google now!

I want those copy paste 'anyone can make these' videos gone regarding food next. The ones that are like "EATING AT THE LOWEST RATED RESTAURANTS" or "FAST FOOD TIER LIST" or "COOKING EVERY KIND OF MEAT AT THE STORE". I see dozens of channels doing this shit and it's all slop.

Google said:
  • Similar repetitive content, or mindless content with low educational value, commentary, or narratives
  • Mass-produced, or content using the same template across multiple videos
Of course JewTube won't get rid of dogshit listicle merchants like WatchMojo and their 700 channels of mass-produced slop, not matter how repetitive and unoriginal they get.

After his years long autistic crusade on reaction channels, Darkviperau finally got a win.

I'd be happy for him if he wasn't such a faggot

Never be happy for Matt. The crown on Matt content is that he got scooped on his no damage run.
I hope the AI slop filter takes out all the subway running game videos and leaves the long leisurely game drive videos alone!

I'm actually slightly hopeful that Google's AI might be up to the task of detecting and hunting down AI slop. It's pretty clear they don't want a repeat of the Elsa/Spiderman Inflation Fetish videos being spit out nonstop as children's programing. I think DSP will be fine. While Phil is incredibly repetitive, it is an old fashioned manually produced sort of repetitive. Asmongold probably provides just enough commentary to not have an issue. Plus they're not gonna flag him. Because they're not stupid. The shit that is generated by AI prompts like "If Spider-man was a 1950's Noir Movie" crap.

im pretty sure this is targeting XQC and demins specifically, i dont really think asmongold or moistcritical does this like the other 2 do where they just put their face in the corner and barely react to the video.
XQC could just start doing videos about his trash pile.
No! Not my heckin' Dagoth Ur vids!
RIP Dagoth Slur.
