I have noticed this trend of youtubers who are sort of anti-tiktokkers. Their whole stick is calling out narcissists on TikTok or fat influencers and stating the obvious, like you should be in jail or this is shameful, or narcissists need to stop being idiots for attention. It's extremely obvious and takes no effort, but these channels blow up, to name a few. There is Joey Swoll and Joey B. Toons. Im sure theres way more, but these are just the ones I know. Why do people need some YouTuber to tell them the obvious over and over again?

It's a way for people who don't use TikTok themselves to find content to laugh at, get content to laugh at. It's less about good commentary and more about there being people who bring you curated clips IMO.

A lot of really fucking boring weirdos get popular because of reaction content.
All you have to do is go against the most retarded hot takes that nobody except 5 people hold and you've got a Youtube channel.
It's how people like Steven Crowder and most of Daily Wire got popular, by going around and stating the obvious.
Look at Matt Walsh.
The guy became an online sensation by going "What is a woman?"
Only in an environment where people are absolutely retarded and part of a strange nu-religion is that a possibility.
If you actually listen to what Walsh is for, he's a retard with a stick up his ass.
However, all he has to do is only ever take the safest, most common sense positions on topics and he will be seen as "owning the woke".

What I'm saying is that going after complete retards that nobody agrees with is a good career if you're willing to make shitty videos every day.

Leaving the TikTok thing aside, in general (addressing the thread's title & question at the end), it's mostly because people enjoy the gossip and because they want to reinforce their ideas into something while they are entertained by a video.

Just look at mostcritikal, a lot of his takes are basic, common sense and safe opinions that literally anyone could have given, but a lot of people seek this. It's like a comfort zone I guess.

In my subscription feed on YouTube today there are at least three videos about how adults shouldn't flirt with or pursue minors.

One of them is about "Tiktok's biggest predator," who apparently showed his abs to kids on omegle during tiktok streams or videos or something. I think the tiktok guy is like 20.

It feels like a way to just monetize bad behavior, because like OP said, the opinions of the reactor are completely braindead. It might as well be AI slop.

I don't know about any of that, I just want to say that I think cancer is really bad, and I wish there was a cure for it. If you agree with me, give me a like and subscribe, and I'll see you next time.

It's all incestuous slop. The drama tubers need retards to talk about in a safe fashion to keep the content mill churning, and retards on Tiktok need attention from retard watchers. It's trash for the masses.

It's like shit horror games. The shit horror game tubers need shit horror games to pretend to be amazed by and the shit horror game makers need someone to advertise their shit games for them.

YouTubers can make a fairly consistent livelihood by just reciting their audience's own opinions back to them. I could come to my own conclusion that the guy in this video is an idiot, but if the voiceover tells me he's an idiot, I know I was right so I feel good about myself.

It's the same reason political videos are nearly all worthless slop. Like, sure, Donald Trump is orange and the red-hair feminist is crazy, I learned a lot today, thank you for the deep insight.

Reaction channels in varying levels of disguise.

Maybe the algorhytm detected something and is making recommendations based on your search history.

I use youtube exclusively for watching videos and I never been recommended something like that on my feed.

It's not my recommended feed, it's YouTubers I've chosen to subscribe to directly.

A guy who used to react to funny early 2000s reality TV shows shifted into covering the tiktok predator.

There are a lot of other creators as well who would talk about TLC shows like 90 day fiance who naturally also snarked about another TLC show called 19 Kids and Counting, and then they transitioned into being disgusted Josh Duggar and stating the obvious about his CSAM case and abuse allegations.

If you like reality TV, it's easy to find yourself with these types of videos in your subscription feed.

I don't disagree, but I at least respect MW for actually going out there and exposing the degeneracy and insanity of the people he speaks against. To the point where he's actually appeared at rallies and hearings advocating against troons and exposing coverups of childhood mutilation. Yeah, some of his takes are a complete stick in the mud, generic conservative dad approach, but I'm not entirely unconvinced that some of it isn't just him leaning into the character a bit too much.

Much like Libs Of TikTok. The troons and other alphabet degenerates absolutely seeth and rage at her..... and all she does is expose the things that they themselves put out there for the world to see.

Either way, it speaks more about the state of the world where someone can be pegged as "alt-right, extremist, hateful, conservative, etc" simply for playing the straight man against the insanity of today's world.

Two minutes hate. The masses love it.

As of right now kiwi farms is basically built around idiots who blather in front of a camera and I just can’t see the appeal

I miss the days of absolute bat shit lolcows as opposed to this glut of dullards who read from a script

I think a lot of lolcow channels like SmokeyMCC, Senor Chinchilla. and Saturated Content are basically that tbh. "Hey guys I found this video, haha this guy is stupid/fat/ugly, haha go to the gym bro, ok guys bye <insert motivational quote>". I suppose if you want to see a lolcow get famous, this is more accessible than actually interesting videos like Audentum' or edgy high effort stuff like Bigbunjee's, but imo, the videos themselves are boring, the commentator is never interested enough to give useful context or build a narrative, and their jokes are 2014 commentary tier, if there are jokes at all.

Speaking of which, I have barely kept up with Christory past a certain point, but is Smokey supposed to be Surfshack Tito? That's who his avatar is and he's big into Chris Chan videos, which makes me think it might be him.

Regurgitating obscure shit for normies does wonders. People can't be bothered to read, but they are more likely to put a video on in the background while they're doing something else. Take the iceberg video phenomena as an example, people like Wendigoon get massive just talking about information that's already been compiled by someone else or by various sources, no original research required. Same goes for any video talking about "secrets" in media (Movies, TV, vidya, etc.), which is nothing more than taking info written on wikis and shoving it into one video with very little fact checking or research done. This is usually because whoever's making the video has very little interest in what they're making content on and is just chasing trends for ad revenue and sponsor deals. You even see people steal shit from here for that very same purpose, making sanitized videos about lolcows while avoiding saying our name.

tl;dr Normies are lazy faggots who need to be spoonfed everything, and "geek culture" or any sort of mainstream culture forming around a topic should have been gatekept harder. This clip from Arby n The Chief was somehow prophetic of this in 2009, probably because little has changed, it's only expanded its audience.

Being a fence sitter faggot with no personality whose job is to state the obvious made Penguinz0 gain millions of followers and dollars, this is the new era version of the Leafy clones.

I disagree, we definitely need a 156542324th video essay about Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Yes, he started his channel making small summaries of the Cwciki, basically, and later moved to an assorted selection after he got bored and CWC content dried up.
