Youtubers you enjoy that everyone else hates.

Videogamedunkey. I have never unironically looked to video game reviewers, satirical or otherwise, to decide whether I like a game or not. I make decisions based on empirical descriptions of the features / content. In other words, I find Dunkey funny and don't care what he personally thinks about any of the games he plays (or doesn't play). I am apparently in a bipartisan minority on this.

Upper Echelon. I know he cops a lot of flak from the Left because he's Literally Hitler™ and the Right because his takes are a bit too milquetoast for their collective palate, but I'm one of those weirdos who appreciates nuance in political discussions and accepts the well-proven reality that going too far one way or the other is unhealthy for a modern civilized society.

Thank you @Stumbling7 for starting this. :heart-full: Honestly I didn't have anybody in mind when I brought it up in that other thread. Hmmmmmmm.
You guys know the cartoon reviewer Saberspark? I was surprised to learn how disliked he is, because I think he's the most level-headed, nonperverted, and entertaining youtuber in his niche by far. ........That's what I WOULD have said 2-3 years ago. Now my ex-goat Saberspark is woke and degenerate... I still wanted to mention him though. Because there's a time when I passionately would have. :(
Someone else to mention is Turkey Tom. Yeah I know, Turkey "her prostate orgasm" Tom. As a fellow zoomer, I just enjoy his sense of humor. And his slop is good background noise.
Since you mentioned people who used to be good, I mine as well mention iDubbbzTV, before Content Cop, I loved his Kickstarter crap and Indiegogo Excrement videos,
but now...

I actually have a soft spot for Linkara. For sure a lot of the criticisms of him are spot on, but I find his recaps of comics amusing and there's a few of his autistic running gags I do like, in a "nice to see you, old friend" way.

Also honestly I like his format, especially for things like his Hush review.... other reviewers would give you a basic overview, Linkara basically means I never have to buy the comic myself. This is a good thing. In stuff like his Star Trek reviews I get joy out of what a big freaking nerd he is, how he'll mention some novel that tries to explain something from the movies and stuff like that.

ever since the "Man in a cave video" was exposed to be plagiarized
alot of the self-righteous youtubers, redditors and etc hate him further than they did before.
and theres many videos and threads claiming he is literally a nazi and panders to nazis.

On a fun note, him calling wine pairings bullshit made a french vtuber upset

TheInternetHistorian
He posts so infrequently now and his content shifted away from Internet related drama that he's effectively a dead channel now.

Big Boss has the exact same schtick but actually uploads every 3 months.

Warlockracy has a thread and some people go into his personal history on the Russian side of the Internet, but I like most of his content.

He has become my favorite youtuber lately. Very intelligent, actually understands games and the point of having fun while playing them. I love his videos that go over classic Russian stuff that hasn't necessarily been translated. Neat to see the stuff that as an American I would never have known about. The people that don't like him are obviously politically biased in a particular way. Either it's "how dare you betray your fellow Russians" which I can understand why an individual in Russia would not be supportive of the war.

I'm also a fan of Jacob Geller. He does shill for nebula but his content is well researched when needed and he's enthusiastic about it.

I agree. When he gives a truly based take, I nod since he's preaching to the choir, but when he gives a cringe take – such as in his culture war topics – I just roll my eyes and move on. I'm still subscribed to the guy, and he still makes good points.

Count Dankula gets a lot of shit thrown his way, which is deserved specially after the divorce stuff came out and for his preferences for faggots traps, but I still somewhat enjoy his videos, even if they are glorified Wikipedia page retellings.
I don't get how anyone can listen to his videos with that horrible accent he has, nothing against him personally but his videos are unlistenable because of it

Pewdiepie.

I never followed him in his early youtuber years, I think I started following him around 2016. And though he's not as obnoxious as he used to be he was still pretty obnoxious but I found them entertaining. I liked his latest playthrough series of minecraft, and now I am enjoying his peaceful Japan vlogs.
I do wonder if his life is as happy as he makes it out to be, I never trust these aesthetic vlog type contents, but I will say his ability to stay out of any drama has been commendable. I'm glad he doesn't let any of the japan vloggers he hangs out with take pictures or videos of him, and encourage people to just respect privacy.

How did you know Congratulations has been stuck in my head all day
I agree btw <3 He and Dunkey gotta be in the hall of fame of meet wife online, have baby, beloved by all, winning at life

Allison Pregler. Yes yes I know I know she's a hypocrite etc etc but honestly I genuinely enjoy the film and TV reviews she does with Phelan. And Baywatching is iconic I'm sorry.

Jeremy Jahns. I've hung out on other internet reviewers/essayist communities for a while and there was a tendency for most of them to have a negative opinion of him and his more simple style of reviewing movies and probably due to the blackface, but nowadays i've been more down to watch shorter reviews than hours long reviews of stuff i am never going to watch.
And the Nostalgia Critic/Doug Walker. Yeah, he can be as funny as a reddit comment but he has enough charisma to keep me entertained and once in a while can be genuinely funny. And his out of character reviews i like a lot too, sometimes even giving me a different perspective on something, and it's a lot more down to earth.

I can't keep track anymore. All the sperging from the YouTube drama sub and various channels have made it exhausting to talk about channels you like.

Give it time, and pretty soon, someone you like will end up sperging out over something retarded.

Oh I got a few:

Justin Wang is an alright guy, and at least willing to do research read a reddit thread wherever first-hand internet experience fails him.

Matt McMuscles is a wiki reader and balding but does manage to email-interview actual insightful people of interest when dissecting games, which is more than “Death of a Game” guy can say.

Turkey Tom gets a lot of deserved hate and I can’t stand that fucking vignette he uses 100% throughout his videos but honestly he’s saved me countless hours of scrolling through lolcow threads I was only slightly curious about and would’ve ended up not following.

Skumbagovitch/Frankie Fey is just Justin Wang with tits but I find her Yankee mannerism to be soothing; maybe I was a Guido in a previous life or something, I don’t know.

I definitely don’t like Trisha Paytas but I think she’s fascinating from an accelerationist point of view.

I know a good portion of public opinion has turned on mutahar but i still like his content.
I really dislike Muta now but I still watch a lot of his old videos. My search is always pretty much "someordinarygamers before:2017".
