I noticed that my YT front page has been a nightmare hellscape for a little while and so I thought I would share it.

itt: Post your YouTube home pages and kiwis offer their insight into what kind of person you are based on your video recommendations.

This is mine

What makes me really mad about this is there's something about it that seems to reset every time Youtube changes something. Last time they changed their algorithm, they put a bunch of bullshit in my feed. I selected "do not show me this bullshit again" on each of these videos and gradually the algorithm got the hint about most of the channels. My youtube was functional again. After they made another change, everything is back. Videos which I explicitly said "do not show me again" are being recommended for me, in addition to tons of other shit unrelated to any videos I've watched before.

-I don't give a flying fuck about Star Wars
-I haven't watched a Steamed Hams meme in ages
-I rarely watch Arlo and never get through his videos because they're padded as fuck
-I'm not subscribed to TheQuartering nor do I watch him but I see his recommendations all the time
-I'm subscribed to Louis Rossmann but I rarely ever watch his videos
-The one that doxxes me is from a friend of mine who does no-commentary gameplay videos that get almost no views and I'm subscribed just to help him out

The only one I care about watching of any of those is the JerryRigEverything one but I've already seen it

According to mine I love true crime, missing case stories, CallMeKevin's shitpost videos and Christmas music.

Well, I don't think it's terribly representative of a typical day, but let's go through it.

I really like Cyriak.
I really like EmpLemon.
I really like Lindy Beige.
I was listening to a lot of the Orion Experience a few weeks ago, and a lot of Of Montreal this week.
I was watching South Park stuff today and yesterday.
I waste a large chunk of my life watching Family Guy, Simpsons, and other TV show clips (not actual episodes, just badly-edited compilations) on YouTube.

The secret is to liberally use the "do not show me this anymore" feature. The algorithm cannot be blamed if you don't meet it halfway. Literally just dumb code. I haven't cringed in months.
However, I don't login when I browse on mobile, so I get the "first day on youtube suggestion starter pack". Half of it is fucking faggot makeup tutorials featuring people with so much makeup you'd think they're on their way to the circus. Now THAT is truly a nightmare.

It seems to recommend mostly videos I haven't watched to the completion (watching 99% of a video doesn't seem to cont) and videos I haven't watched all together. I wen't trough the home page and all but one of the recommended videos are from a creator I have subbed to. I have set that every time I open youtube to show subscriptions page. Fuck their pozzed algorithm. I need to use some app to turn off suggested videos.

Documentaries on nature, world history and true crime, movie reviews and early 90s Unsolved Mysteries episodes.

It says I'm a weirdo?
