He got rid of the stupid octopus from Watchmen. That has to count for something.
Sorry, but that is where i violently disagree. While the super hybrid silly squid was super silly, that was the point Alan Moore made using it to unify USSR and America. Plus, changing the morally ambigious ending where all the heros were complicit in having to keep up the lie is subtle and powerful. Placing all the blame on Dr. Manhatten undermines that moral ambiguity.

Honeslty, I would put them on equal shitty footing
Snyder's more cringe than annoying. I believe he believes whatever edgy melodramatic bullshit he's selling, while Abrams' work just comes off as assuming I'm an easily manipulated sap with the attention span of a goldfish. Really you can generalize that to Bad Robot projects in general, it's all emotional pleading and plot threads instantly dropped once they're no longer convenient, in classic Mystery Box style.

I agree 100% with both assements of both directors. That's why I think they are both shitty for different reasons...but both equally make unwatchable films.

Agree to disagree, then. I can laugh at cringe if I'm in the right mindset. It's part of why I enjoy 300. You couldn't pay me to watch an Abrams film.

I think someone put it best when they said Zack Snyder was the "edgier" version of Michael Bay. Not sure what that makes JJ Abrams.

I couldn't even laugh at 300. I would have walked out of it if it wern't for the fact my friend drove me there... and I had no other means to get home.

However, you can at least find something in 300 to laugh at. Art is 100% subjective.

It’s beyond me why he gets handed movies to ruin. It’s like Hollywood is run by idiots.
Snyder basically makes bollywood-tier spectacle nonsense that makes ludicrous amounts of money abroad. I still laugh at how every name signing the "punish rotten tomatoes for being mean to the DC universe" petitions was some flavor of Pedro or Pajeet.
