Having a high IQ means you have good language skills, good math skills, good memory, and good spacial reasoning, depending on the specifics of the test given to you. I know a licensed psychologist and I remember asking them about IQ. They made it very clear that it tests a narrow range of attributes that are indicators of intelligence and it tests nothing else. It doesn't make you immune from bias. It doesn't make you a being of pure logic where every thought you have is validated. And most importantly, it doesn't prevent you from being an utter moron. If I want someone who's in the upper 2% of the population with defining words, doing mental math, or mentally rotating 3d shapes I'll find someone with a 134 IQ. If I want someone who understands consent, I'll ask someone who doesn't rape animals.

If I could guess, it would be because of the consistent lack of law in every area south of the border. As we know Cuba and probably most of these Latin countries have basically no animal welfare laws (dog, cock, and even horse fighting is rampant).

I wonder how much of it is actually related to local law and culture. It really fascinates me how it appears in some parts of the world there seems to be higher concentrations of certain types of zoos. Like the USA has a lot more weirdos who think bestiality is a beautiful and loving act between romantic partners, UK/Europe seems to house the sexual deviants who simply get off on the sheer taboo of fucking an animal. It's a thing among the poorer areas of the atlantic coast (barranquilla, santa marta, la guajira and to some extent valledupar). I have family in barranquilla which is where I first heard it, but for what it's worth I always heard it in the context of "ugh how gross and weird, poor donkeys". I have literally never heard of it anywhere else.

I think it's worth noting that different kinds of animals seem to be the target of different demographics based on ease of access. Dog/cat fuckers seem way more popular in countries like the US and Canada, likely due to ready availability thanks to puppy/kitten mills and a lack of consistent regulations for things like vet visits, making them easy targets for abuse and neglect. I suspect this is why so many dogfuckers appear to prefer "purebred" or intentionally crossbred dogs rather than SPCA mutts; it's not much more expensive to drop $250 for a cheap puppy from a questionable breeder who isn't as likely to ask questions (or spay/neuter), as opposed to the SPCA which (region-dependant) does keep track of animals they've processed, at least for the first while, to ensure they're getting medical care for any shots and issues not covered by their initial release package.

In other countries where domestic food stock is not nearly as heavily regulated (or has a lot of hands off free range stock) you end up seeing a lot more goats/sheep/donkeys/etc. getting targeted instead. Cats and dogs still live in these countries of course and are also victimized but the percentages of these animals tend to have a much higher rate of strays that are leery of people to some degree.

Would be worth looking into the correlation between zoophillia and animal husbandry vs. zoophillia and pet owners for a research paper or something, though. I'd be willing to put money down that zoophiles who got into it via animal husbandry are way less likely to have a "relationship" with the animals they abuse in an emotional sense, whereas zoophillic pet owners have a tendency to project some emotional connection onto their victims (likely out of guilt). There's always exceptions to this but it would definitely explain why pet owner zoophiles tend to try to argue for their zoophillia being a consensual thing whereas your typical sheep shagger just doesn't give a fuck.
