Interesting to note is Icepaws/Phillip Matthew Stallsworth. The guy who panicked and tried to DFE when the cops were at his door. He's been on Anthrocon staff since 2006.

Icepaws hasn't been on Anthrocon staff since his arrest. He actually resigned, so it wasn't the con's decision on the matter. Anthrocon is really... weird about taking stances on hot-button issues in the fandom like pedophiles, which is funny given that the con tries to present such a family friendly atmosphere.

Would people not find this weird? Especially whoever is in charge of safety or just parents of people in general? That seems like a scandal waiting to happen, only it's a well known scandal in the community it seems.

People do find it weird, even in the community. But "we can't be seen taking a stance" is generally the response from the Board, as seen with the Fuck Off Nazi Furs ribbons.

If they're really serious about that they just need to keep the cons completely and utterly separate because their fan base is too fucking autistic to have the remotest clue what's acceptable behavior. Stuff like Confurrence showed they can't even be trusted to act normally enough to be around actual adults without horrifying everyone.

Screenshots were obtained from someone involved with that blocklist. Apparently the one running the telegram kept blocking him and he immediately used different accounts to try to talk.

I think it's just that the Swift on Security account at least jokes around with being a furry pretty frequently. It's pretty overdue for a joke conbadge, and is an obvious option for when you don't want to use your 'usual name'.

Of course, if you're looking to lie low, it is a poor choice.
 
:offtopic: I don't know how anyone takes the whole "furries aren't a just a sex thing," seriously when they offer fucking HIV testing at their cons.
