He dodged calls and delegated meetings constantly over the past month or so, and the closest that got to creating visible issues for Biden was Boris Johnson complaining to the press that it took Biden 36 hours to get back to him re: the Afghanistan pullout.

And I strongly suspect his health issues and needing serious treatment that leaves him bedridden is the actual reason for all those weekend trips to Wilmington he keeps making, regardless of ongoing crises or the bad optics of doing so.

Better for his health sure,. But that's only one of several competing concerns. If Jill is calling the shots she's also his legacy in mind but she's a political parvenue so might not realize that him stepping down, or not having run at all, would probably be the best thing for that legacy
