Has anyone mentioned how American v-tubers manage to be even more annoying than Japanese ones? I find nearly all their voices annoying, as they all try to do that high pitched little girl voice.

I know there are one or two that do weird schticks where they have an accent or use text to speech, but even when I know what they're saying it's not that interesting to me.

I know a few diehard weebs that don't find this v-tuber thing interesting either. The only person I do know who loves v-tubers is a lonely tranny who I don't stay in contact with anymore. Does anyone actually know people in person that enjoy v-tubers?

Been watching this thread and it has basically been 80% "new thing bad" and 20% actual posting /vt/ or Vtuber lunacy which is about 20% more than I expected honestly. Anyway I posted about two vtubers who were in a relationship and was a slight shitnado and honestly couldn't do a TLDR for it on this post but the gist is he cheated on her multiple times, got pity sex from her when didn't want to but threatened leaving her and killed her cat through negligence, my initial post here on the main thread and the follow up post to it on here. I had a quick look to see what has happened since then and looks like Jin deleted all his stuff which doesn't surprise me and honestly wasn't much worth archiving because he had already deleted his old tweets by the point I found his account and his Twitch was dead with no videos or clips and Pinky is just doing her normal stuff but there was a tweet thanking everyone for their support. So in the grand scheme of things nothing really happened but if you want to read about two dysfunctional humans trying to have a relationship and how people can be deceiving behind avatars.

This thread will struggle to get anywhere worthwhile, or to avoid just becoming a second vtuber discussion general, because most of the autists affiliated with vtubers are grade-A top tier not funny.
You can find some pretty outlandish amateur vtubers, but they're only about as exotic as what you would find in five minutes on tumblr or trawling through retard cards on twitter. The fans are in some cases rabid but in most cases just there for the ride, and the culture around it is on the milder end of weebshit. It's like hybridized weebshit with ecelebs, but the drama is all as fake and 2D as the avatars. Frankly, even "normal" youtubers and streamers have way more shit to go off of, because using a virtual avatar of a big titty anime girl is counterintuitively less pathological than running a facecam on the internet. People in this thread were wowed by a bunch of random fans who clearly have way too much disposable income pooling together cash to get signboards displaying random shit on an off day in New York, try stomaching the sheer quantities of money wasted by MrBeast or the Pauls or some other "rich eceleb" channel every single day.

Documenting the ludicrous superchats and some of the depraved shit people post in chats is something that can necessarily only be done by people who already idle vtuber streams all day. Since the vast majority of both superchats and comments are mild or uninteresting, that's a dud. From /vt/, the funniest things posted in the thread are some screenshots clearly from well-made bait posts on 4chan that were trying to be as outlandish as possible to get (you)s. For anyone brand new to the internet, that's an imageboard staple. People have been doing that for over a decade now, which makes taking it poor material for a thread, or at least one based in community watch. If you're laughing or alarmed, they did their job. You can find more authentic and depraved shit on AO3 in two clicks, or one here.
Worse: the posters that seem the most legitimately deranged tend to be the one who are anti-vtuber, or who have srsbizness grudges against some vtuber in specific, which means that talking about them will draw in more vtuber fans who think it would be a good idea to start documenting "antis," even though those are ultimately pretty boring too.

Since focusing too hard on the fans is a bad idea for all of the above reasons, and most generic tumblr amateur vtweeters suck, in my opinion the ideal profile of people for this thread to talk about would be

1. amateur vtubers
2. who regularly post or do stupid shit in places that don't require lurking streams forever to find (twitter, deviantart, tumblr, etc)
3. who seem self-aware enough to get really mad about people talking about them on the internet, or who may have fans that do the same.

#3 in particular means they're resilient and likely to provide extra content just from the fact they get mentioned, so I think that's pretty important. Most vtweeters and amateur vtubers are dead fish or seem to vanish eventually because they get bored. #2 because it's free material, and in some cases vtubing makes preexisting degenerates and minor cows comfortable enough to start publishing more information online.
Here are a few rapid-fire examples that meet these criteria:

At any rate, Hololive in particular positions its streamers as next-generation idols so they've adopted the idea of seiso to a certain extent, or at least tried to early on in the project. But we outside of Japan don't have this culture, and we expect that all of these girls have their own personal lives where they're straight-up fuckin' dudes who aren't on our level, just like all our actresses and pop stars.

Dawg, anyone who accepts that some bizarre out of shape chicks with a tenuous relationship with hygiene who make their money talking in a high pitch voice and piloting little anime girls for a bunch of shut ins online are "straight up fuckin' dudes who aren't on [their] level" should probably just give up on life.

The reason people in west are less concerned with these people portraying themselves as virginal is because anime and idol crap is a pastime for misfits, anime seems pretty heavily associated with mental and social dysfunction, and in fact I'd argue that a large portion of western men wouldn't even date one of these v-tuber girls. I'm confused as to why they would; is it their ability to consistently speak like a child? Their ability to use a program that replaces them with an anime girl? I don't really see why rich, handsome, fit men would be falling all over themselves to date some pale lass who spends too much time at her computer and who bears no resemblance to an anime girl in real life.

Countries like Japan and South Korea are obsessed with idol culture because their society is incredibly high pressure, which encourages escapism, and their fixation on tradition leads to very rigid expectations of gender roles that don't work in a modern climate. Those countries also, not incidentally, have tanking populations. Don't be like Japan and South Korea.

As someone who used to hate anime with a passion in the late 90's and early 2000's, I can safely say it's because people feel threatened when a new, unfamiliar medium enters their traditional sphere of influence. I used to do a lot of creative writing, as I was a hardcore fan of western fantasy & Dungeons and Dragons. Then things like DBZ started taking the west by storm, and I instantly became a hater. I laughed at all the stupid weebs who thought martial arts where people shouted attack names at each other could ever be remotely as cool as a bunch of elves twatting orcs over the heads with their +5 Swords of Indecisiveness. I held that attitude until a science fiction & fantasy critic I respected an awful lot reviewed an anime and was very impressed by it. I watched it myself and found it just as enjoyable. After that I started slowly opening up to anime and manga.

Now I almost exclusively consume it. Not always because it's objectively superior to anything the West produces, but it is almost immune to SJW culture and modern progressive cancer, while nearly every single fucking piece of western fantasy/sci-fi media these days has a mandatory diversity quota. When I can't even read Brandon Sanderson without wondering when a character will announce at random how much they love dick or how the totalitarian evil fascist magical dictatorship the protagonists are fighting sure has some progressive ideas on vertical integration that they should totally look into when all this is over, I don't have much hope left.

Anime & manga authors still remember that their primary duty is to entertain. Not spread a message. Not change the world. Not brainwash children. They're there to E N T E R T A I N. That's why they have such a powerful presence these days. Anti-anime crusaders can rationalize their hatred whatever way they like, but they cannot deny this basic fact; Western media is simply not competitive anymore.

If you, dear reader, want to own the animetards, then do so by actually supporting good entertainment and companies dedicated to producing entertainment instead of propaganda. But if all you do is sit in your man-cave surrounded by old Star Wars figures, mumbling under your breath about how Darth Vader was absolutely the superior antagonist when compared to Vegeta, you're part of the problem.

The kind of people who love it are mainly children, which is also the demographic sugary cereals are generally designed for, and normally when people grow up they begin to prefer to consume things with a little more substance to them, which means adults who constantly consume sugary breakfast cereals probably have something wrong with them.

And if someone does while it could just be because they're a garden variety weirdo, it could also be a sign that they have an unhealthy obsession with youth and thus while I wouldn't immediately assume they were a pedophile (like the New Zealand agricultural dog overseer seems to) I'd still be cautious about trusting them alone with kids.

I think it's more likely that you keep consuming anime for the same reason people who eat sugar just want more sugar; it's cheap and unsatisfying in the long run but the temporary rush it provides makes you crave more anyways, where as those who are in the habit of avoiding sugar don't miss it and are usually better off.

Also, there's tons of free or low priced entertainment available through non-conventional channels, you just have to be a little more adventurous and stop expecting to be able to open your mouth and hold out your wallet and wait for media companies to shovel distractions in.

I'm not sure what I'm more disturbed by.

The fact that these men busted a nut simultaneously at the behest of a talking anime avatar, the fact that they busted a nut simultaneously to some menhera who doesn't even know what the number 74 looks like, the fact that they forced themselves to bust a nut on command (a "countdown"?), the fact that they're bragging about it, the fact that the menhera "ordered" this, or the fact that there was a negotiation between viewers and host to have her order it.
