Sam Fennah / FailSafe42 - Atheist furry who dropped out of college; sperged to Bionicle fans about God not existing #SAVEBOB

No offense, but haven't we been through this already? We've already established that Fennah doesn't have the best pins, and the quality of the pins could use some work. I'm more surprised at the fact that he's only got pins for Lucy, Celia, and Winifred. With all the characters Fennah has, I expected him to make more pins. Like maybe Ludwig or Fontaine or... any character that I actually care about lol. There isn't enough variety when it comes to his merch, that's basically what I'm getting at.
When Satellite City was still a thing I remember there were Fleischer and Shuck pins (which to br honest looked even worse than these).
I guess making pins of Sam's and his fandom goddesses makes sense, to hell with the other characters that don't make Sam or anyone else horny.

No but seriously though, it genuinely pisses me off what little attention he gives his other characters. It's always Lucy or Winifred or Celia, to hell with the other characters. He has dozens of characters for his book, half the time I can't even remember their names because there's so many of them. I miss the original cast that was just Lucy, Shuck, Winifred, Fleischer, and Hyzenthlay. I'm even starting to miss the old monochrome Winifred, the blind one who never talked and yet she was suppose to have this deep dark past that we never found out about because Fennah remade all of that. Sometimes I get angry at the amount of potential being wasted on pointless edgy filler. The fact that this whole book Fennah is trying to make is called a "political drama" makes me groan, I just fail to see how this story is gonna be interesting.

Its obvious he has a "type", the huge bitchy know-it-all edge lord with massive hips and sharp teeth with huge tails

Wish he'd redo it as a sequel or something, but he's known for his ability to waste potential.
Guess these are his top three popular characters so he makes pins that will sell well, but I also think Locket would do just as good as well as Hyzenthlay and Shuck. Let's see what he has planned for Hyzenthlay in the book, and hopefully they all aren't the same character in a different costume. I think maybe the Winifred voice test will have the release date of the book in it, as so far he should have finished polishing it, I guess. I know finding a good print-on-demand publisher for the first time isn't easy, but it shouldn't take him more than a month.

This is completely unrelated, but I remember seeing fanart of Lucy with Angel Dust (one of Vivziepop's characters) and looking back I am so damn grateful that Fennah did a collab with NC instead of Vivziepop. Someone even said that Vivziepop and Fennah should do a collab, at the time I was all for it but now- HELL NO. That would be the equivalent of adding fire to a gas leak, both of these artists have so many flaws and such bad fanbases that combining the two would most likely result in a trainwreck so horrifically terrible that even Satan himself would feel pity. Not to say that I don't like Fennah or Vivziepop, but to put it simply... it's similar to like... cookies and ketchup in that both of them are good on their own but when you combine the two it's gonna be excruciatingly unpleasant (in my opinion at least). Sorry for the rant, I just couldn't get this off my mind. I really hope Vivziepop and Fennah don't collab, I just can't see it ending well for either of them.

I doubt very much that anything like this will happen, beyond the outlandishly bad colorful design of its characters and the pitiful attempt at "adult" writing that only appeals to teenagers. Neither of them would have any reason to get together, they both approach different types of writing and type, their animation styles are distant and clearly their series currently approach different types of worlds, that if they get together it would be strange and for no apparent reason.

Idk why you need so many goodamn characters but whatever. They also feel out of place somehow compared to the main cast/other characters of Fennah

Now onto the fire thing:

I want to throw up I just can't, for the first time I can say I hate a page preview.
What the hell are all these places, explain to me what the Underbirth and the Kasino is, why is he suddenly describing Lucy and then jumps to another topic, just to continue describing her two sentences later? It feels so fast and chaotic - the first few sentences are dumb I'm sorry, "layers of encrusted time". Forget it, all sentences are somehow dumb here along with the way of talking.
No larger than a monkey? Which monkey? Orang-utan? Chimpanzee?
Now I can confirm this is horrible word-vomit of trying to sound smart and poetic but failing miserably.
God am I now worried for this book, the animatics compared to the page previews appeared like gold. Forget all I ever said, this page makes me want to cry in a corner. Yay, look, he wasted potential again!

Why couldn't he keep this one here? It's eons better. This as the very beginning, I think this is how the book should start.

Well would ya look at that, was just about to comment about all of this but you beat me to it. Ok, so, I have a LOT of problems with this. First of all, this is only chapter one and he's already introduced so much in such a short amount of time. How the hell am I suppose to keep up with all the cities? Also, he doesn't describe what importance these cities have and as an audience we're just suppose to take it all in at once. Second, he describes Lucy and literally everything else as if we know what the hell he's talking about- like he doesn't explain anything at all. Newcomers to the book are gonna be confused as fuck, I know I am. Who is Lucy? What is Lucy? What are the Kivs? Where is this story taking place? Why is Lucy Cockney? Who are Fido and Kly? Lucy responded to Fido and Kly as if she's interacted with them before, but the audience has no idea who the bloody hell they're suppose be. Dafuq is the Underbirth, Vileborne, Miviam, or the Kasino? Yeshua is mentioned for like a second, and then that's just it- that's literally it. See what I mean? Aren't you deeply overwhelmed and confused? Some other more minor nitpicks I have are Fennah describing Lucy as "effeminate" like... wut? Isn't the term effeminate used to describe a man with feminine characteristics or am I missing something? Fennah also describes Lucy as being similar to a monkey in size, and this is a really dumb nitpick on my part but it would help if he could be more specific. There's tons of different monkeys, be more specific, idk... maybe say Lucy is the size of a Spider monkey or a Howler monkey. There's already so many flaws and the book isn't even out yet, this is just chapter one folks, we have almost 700 pages of this story to sit through. This is gonna be a wild ride, that's for sure.

Not a single ounce of criticism was given. Fennah's fans really are delusional if they consider this "exquisite works of poetic writing" and "masterful literature" seriously. Why???

Apologies for double posting but this is bothering me. So someone pointed out that Fennah used the word "effeminate" wrong. This was Fennah's response, and it doesn't make sense to me. What a weird excuse...

If he's already onto it, he can word all of it better.
From what I've seen, heard and read Lucy has a feminine appearance. Just because she has muscle, it doesn't instantly make her "manly". She has clear female legs and body curves, along with a girlish face. I couldn't mistake her for any other gender but female.

Also, he wants to explain the advantages later? If you start something, like a character's appearance, you can't just say "wait a moment I wanna jump to that first. Ok, let's go back." It's like he says "she has advantages", and five pages later: "the advantages are:"

BITCH THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID
I don't know his thought process during writing and especially revising and improving, but Satellite City's writing was better. The dialogue was much better there. And from what I've seen in the animatics (I'm going to overmention it), he can write well (well enough for most of the time), but for some reason he does not. The quality degrades with every preview page as I've seen with Locket and that bunny girl preview page here she prostituted around. But Locket... such a missed ah man... Fennah just managed to make his most powerful and scary character look like the most normal person in the world with that preview page. My impression of Locket was destroyed and now I only see some normal Queen with hardly any personality but "order".

I can't say anymore I'm excited to read the book, I'll rather open it when the time comes and think "please don't be that awful".

Are you surprised though?

Here is what should really peeve you, unless you don't mind major unexplained issues in a story.

So is young in this case like a million years old? again, why does it take these creatures so long to develop wisdom? a while ago, I remember a post that read "lucy, a million-year-old bean" something around those lines. How are you going to write a character coming across as childish weak and naive when they are that old. I am curious how he is going to deal with more than a billion years of life. I don't think the human mind is capable of such a thing, to structure a whole story around individuals that live for billions of years. It's fine when a story is not character-focused like "All tomorrows" where individuals are not a focus, but this? you really have to step over some holes to read something like this.

At the back of your head, you would always be thinking, after a million years of passage of time, "They had all this time to do this or that, why did they not take the opportunity, why did things not happen out of a chance at that time span?" the story COULD be interesting as a dive into a society like if you were to write a story of mankind, or if you would focus on ONE individual living for billions of years as he observes the passage of time, but when everyone is your society lives for a trillion years, how do you structure that with multiple angles without having an understanding of eldritch ideas yourself.

YOU DON"T instead you write characters like your mushy human brain best understands and you end up writing normal characterization that when you factor in billion years of life, you end up making characters that are extremely developmentally challenged and stupid in comparison. for gods sakes, you have characters in other fiction that are only a million years old that make planets with a passing fart.

Okay, I don't have anything else to say about your writing that hasn't been said before, so let's talk about this for a moment. I don't remember who said it, but you're right.

These designs only work well in 2D, they are pleasing to the eye with that style of drawing. I can imagine them with crazy adventures like Happy Tree Friends, a more violent Looney Tunes or something like that. (Not even why it would have to be just comedy, I could even imagine something deeper and more adult. )
Simply put, making a serious story about politics or whatever with a realistic 3D style doesn't work for them, sorry, it just doesn't work.

I fully expect this book to flop honestly, there's this tiny shred of hope that maybe it will be a big hit but from what I've heard about authors... it won't be a big hit. Simply put, authors don't make jack shit in their field and especially nowadays since no one cares about reading anymore. The way Fennah responds to criticism pisses me off, always saying shit like "I agree but also you're wrong and I'm right and also I'm still learning so stop hurting my feelings" like he's a massive dick sometimes and it's really hard to like him as a person. The YouTube screenshots that @Draaq posted says it all really, just look at how Fennah responded to being told he used the word "effeminate" incorrectly. I know he removed effeminate from the book now, but even before that he felt the need to defend himself and make up dumbass excuses. Why did he get so passive aggressive about the word effeminate anyways? He still can't take criticism?

So...is Sam still trying to cast the ruthlessly utilitarian, borderline-facist society these eldritch abominations live in in a good light? Is there going to be any point where a character takes a more critical look at the system and sees its flaws? Or will the conclusion of the story just be his characters achieving whatever power or positions they wanted and clawing their way to the top of the heap?

Clawing their way to the top of the heap. You can tell from the way he describes Lucy as being this small, frail main character and we're not suppose to sympathize with her because she's... small and frail and it's been stated that the Kivs HATE weakness. Ok... so why am I suppose to care? They all kill each other anyways, it's so hard for me to take this story seriously. It'd be more interesting to see these characters question why their system of living is so messed up, but Fennah doesn't wanna go that route apparently. I still fail to see how Fennah thinks a story about aliens fighting over politics is gonna keep people's attention, shoving politics into everything doesn't make you look like a genius.

The more I try to support Fennah, the more I find that I hate his lack of actual logic when it comes to writing. It angers me, there's so much potential and it's being wasted on this fucking mess. Fuck sake. Maybe I'm just being too harsh? I have a love-hate relationship with Fennah's content at this point. 🥴

The closest thing to that I remember was with Fleischer and the other good guys, who were treated like the dregs of society for refusing to follow their rules. But I doubt very much if that exists in the actual book, because we don't even have any actual information about Fleischer.

God, reading these two things, you really see the spergyness brought over from Bionicle. In Bionicle, there is apparently a robot bigger than a planet that houses the entire universe? sounds familiar when reading all this. pistons many miles high? haha sifi, just make stuff big.

Also, why does anyone have hope? At this point to fix anything you have to completely make a new story, with new characters and a new world. He would have to throw everything out and start again, to make an edgy deep statement like Fennah would...

"if you make a building out of a foundation of shit, the strongest iron and stone is not going to prevent it from toppling.

Heck, you would need a new writer. If you are looking for good work, look somewhere else.

See I'm not looking for a good story personally. I'm excited to rip into Fennah's fail world building and characters. Ripping part a god awful example is the same as taking notes from an amazing example when it comes to potential to learn and grow from it. Seeing what not to do, and figuring out why not to do it is wonderfully exciting for me.
