Sam Fennah / FailSafe42 - Atheist furry who dropped out of college; sperged to Bionicle fans about God not existing #SAVEBOB

It's oddly satisfying seeing all of these old fans
of Fennah leaving and going off to do their own thing. Not that Fennah isn't interesting but uh... I feel like it was getting kinda unhealthy, at least the community when it was first starting out. Halie practically worshipped Fennah's character Ludwig, shipping him with her character Luna and making ungodly amounts of lewd fanart. I didn't know much about Dorothy or Angela (the voice actor for Fleischer), all I know is that the community was toxic and that's basically why I left too lol.

So this new video is an improvement, but Fennah needs to take a bit more time and study how flesh moves. It's an improvement though. She feels like she has no mass with this jiggling. I feel like I could pick her up one handed and throw her around like a little bitch. She has no power to her. She's pathetic feeling in motion without a sense of weightiness and mass. She moves like a half filled silk sack of heavier than air lighter than water fluid. Celia is supposed to be a predator right? An imposing primal beast? Not this weak looking... Thing, right?

The writing, still ain't great, but I can judge that best when the book is in my hands. Dialog still sounds like prose. A bad sign. Fennah would likely benefit from first person shifting perspective writing.

Work is ramping up for me, I got to launch a few products before the holidays and so I'm putting all bio sperging on hold. Though I got a few new books for my personal projects that might grant some new insights into how hard Fennah's horny murder OCs fail biology.

That actually reminds me- The new narrator is really good and obviously has some experience. But what do you think happened to the original narrator? The one who also voiced Ludwig. (Can't remember his name, sorry.) Do you think he dipped out like Halie did or do you think Fennah just decided to get a more experienced narrator so the voice actor wasn't voicing everything? (Since I recall that the voice actor ludwig had a LOT of parts. Ludwig, Yeshua, Shuck, etc)
In an old tweet Sam said that his friend who gave the voice of Ludwig simply stopped lending his voice, because he wanted to take his career as a voice actor more seriously.

Wasn't Quinn an OC too? And the Demon Lady we've seen in the bushy-naked sketch artwork wasn't she too...?
I'll miss Dorothy most. Maybe the other people gave their OCs to Sam and didn't care much, I don't know how other they'd appear in a copyrighted/R book. After all they could say after three books "Oh you know goodbye" and what'd he do?

And about the ocs, I guess each one decided to go their own way and move away from that world, leaving a few of them.
Yes, Quinn and the pubic-haired rabbit are Sam's ocs. The fcs I remember have been Dorothy, Luna, Mystique, Titanica, Ed, Thallius and maybe one other I forget. But Sam has always been clear which ones are his and which ones are someone else's.
I honestly don't mind, I'm not in favor of adding fan ocs in a story and even more if you're going to give them an important role, because I feel that sooner or later you're going to move away from the ideas you had at the beginning.

What an absolute bullshiter, I don't believe this "I'm more of a writer thing" for a second

A reminder for yall, too lazy to look for it but where is that tweet where he talks about toppling Disney? this "I am a writer" thing, it's a defense mechanism for his ego, instead of admitting to himself that he may just be awful at animation and 3D, he tells others—but mostly himself—that its all just a fun side project and not something he poured his soul, or lack of, into.

Also, you have to be nuts to think his college freshmen, creative writing class level prose, is anything short of word vomit. what the fuck is "circular murder" or whatever.

100 Pages of history, improvement, bullshit and most importantly the true Fennah Book Club.
Seriously I can’t call it anything else, it’s like a Book Club for me I come to, always looking forward to the next post.
Not interested in heavenly fans getting aggressive at the smallest critique, trying to explain his every action and troubles in his content or behaviour. This here is the real thing, pure honesty everywhere! No defending with “I got that message with Bob” or ” your animations improve more and more(they don’t!)
What’s the point of it. Can’t we have a Kiwifarms for every fandom-thing? Kiwifandom or so? Like, can I say how bad the Warriors series is at some times and not be considered a death-sentenced enemy by the fandom?
Only on Kiwifarms! Which is… sad? Well, the reason I’m barely engaged in any fandom is exactly because you have to be 100% positive to exist in it. That’s why, and it may sound cringe, the thread is special to me.

Just caught up, and I'll admit, the voicework in the Celia video is pretty good. Although, that really isn't Sam's doing.

The chest that manages to jiggle violently despite having no actual fat on it, and the constant weightless, swaying movement? That's Sam, might as well be his trademark by this point.

In my opinion, the fans who have the most criticism are often the ones who are most invested in the project. You don't spend so much time mulling over what could be improved if you don't care about it in the first place. Our attention on Sam seems to be a mixture of mockery ("haha what's the cow gonna do next") and genuine interest ("it could be really good if he did this instead...")

I would not call myself a fan, even if I had an interest in the start, my desire to criticize comes from a form of existential dread that comes from seeing someone so mediocre achieve such a large following. There are so much amazing 3D artists and animators, Ian hurburt comes to mind, and they never so quickly achieve a following. It took Ian years to do so.

It's like, what is it? What is it that draws people unironically to this work? In the case of 3D artwork, I sometimes think it's due to 3D becoming so accessible these days and most good 3D artists working in studios "because they went to college" and thus not really bothering with online clout. Individuals like sam can so easily render their own projects that would have taken months a few years ago in a few hours and just as easily post quantity over quality and gain a quick following. Meanwhile, pros go under the radar.

But as for the stories, I question if people really care about them? and if they do why? it must be edgy teens right? their undeveloped lizard brains falling for the clear sexual tones.. I just want to figure out what makes people fall for it all. maybe the answer is simple though. I don't know.

As a side, I like I am not the only one that thinks the whole thing is made pointless once you are a trillion years old. like at that point you have done everything, everything that you would have written in the book has been done 1000 times. Are these motherfuckers just stupid or forgetful? shit, you are more likely to light yourself on fire in that time frame 10000 times over.

I personally am very into Fennah’s work as it is extremely unique to me both from design and story, especially the characters, which keep me most invested. I think that is the case for most of the fans, for others it might be too strange or out of box to like it. If you have really interesting characters you don’t even need much of a story, people care for the characters, not the story. You see often in the comments people asking “Will we be seeing [character]?l”.
I think the 3D fits it because it makes it more strange, just a shame he does the same mistakes over and over again all these years. The jiggling somehow got worse over time. The fur still looks the same nearly, I don’t know what he praises himself of with the fur. And the claws and especially fingers and toes still look horrifyingly terrible.

I totally agree on the billion years point, like, life must be so frightingly boring to you that you would have suicided long, long ago. And those characters stay the same. For billions of years. No change. No deeper philosophy. No thinking “I‘m fed up with the slaughtering let’s reform or something, all of this is so senseless.” No. They’re the same they were 13 billion years ago.
He said he likes wise characters that’s why he made them so old, but, to achieve wisdom you do really not need to be billions of years old, a hundred or two hundred is absolutely enough to have wisdom and good experience, but still room for improvement and mistakes. Can’t he make them like at least just a thousand years old? I believe with a thousand years you have the exact same wisdom of billions of years just without the massive depression. How do you want to have a proper story if they’re all billions of years old and literally know every single thing.

Knowing how these creatures work, I wonder how they did not become extinct over time.

It's nice to have a place to give your honest opinion about something, even if this site is more focused on talking about the person behind the product, it's fine when you have the opportunity to talk about the content, you don't have to hate or love absolutely everything about something.
And as has been mentioned, it is this kind of criticism that helps the work/character in question to see their mistakes and improve them (if they don't have their ego sky high like our guy here).

well, I would hope you don't spend most of your time unironically enjoying just that work, at least as for as the 3D goes, I implore you to visit art station and just look up aliens or creatures and see what GOOD alien design looks like.

As far as writing goes, I know less about that, but it still seems to me like word vomit and a world structure built on toothpicks. A reminder that the big bad killed a dragon bigger than a mountain with a fireball or something. Yet to read anything DBZ powers or some shit here, but hey maybe that might make it interesting, or maybe he wrote himself in a hole and scrapped that too.

To be blunt, I dislike every design he did except those of the main characters (the only designs I like are: Lucy [mediocre], Celia, Winifred, Locket, Yeshua, Felicity [mediocre], Hyzenthlay, Fleischer [mediocre], Shuck [mediocre]... The mediocre ones are just passable.) I'm more of an animal person (call me furry or not, I just like animals), not interested in aliens, and his animal characters is what got me first in. I remember that Oom Pah Pah was recommended to me, I watched it and then peeked into Satellite City.
His "alien" designs look bad to me, they absolutely do - I very dislike his Ludwig design or Fontaine or Waxle or whatever other "aliens" he has. Until I found out he calls them aliens I just thought of these as creatures and would still call it. I have not seen much with alien in it but... I wouldn't call it alien at all. To call his book Sci-Fi is nooo.... I'd call it Fantasy but Sci-Fi feels so out of place and not fitting.
Aside from the designs I listed above, all the other animal/alien characters look even worse than the "aliens". Whatever artwork he posted of the side characters does not. look. good. at all. All I see are animals on two legs with nipples. Sometimes more than they should have. I already thought Celias nipples were too much, like, why nipples on the stomach too?? It makes my stomach feel uncomfortable. Both inside and outside.

The story, well, I loved the animatics, but I think someone reading something is different than reading it yourself. I might read the same passages that were in the animatic in the book and say "I didn't notice how chaotic it is". I noticed already some moments in the animatics where I had trouble or didn't feel nice to listen to/read.
For example the first part in the preview animatic where Shuck is around the flowers, when I first listened to it I had trouble understanding what's going on, and had to listen 3-4 times to truly grasp what is mostly happening.
Where Winifred and Sombra had a conversation, I could mostly follow, but there were some weird sentences that I didn't truly get, but maybe will get when I read the full book.
The Celia one was very good in the beginning, but later on got a bit... kind of all over the place. Especially the investigation, it felt so... hmm. Long somehow?

Kind of funny, his potential for 3D animation is destroyed by his underdoing of it by relying on effects and modfiers and not on own craft, and his potential for great writing is shattered by his overdoing of it.

I'm lowkey dreading the Winifred voice test animation, because we haven't really seen much of Winifred outside of her being a needlessly edgy bitch. I think Winifred is my least favorite so far, along with Sombra and Locket because they're basically all the same character with a different coat of paint.

I watched the flower animatic, I don't know, I tend to be a little nitpicky and odd stuff in a story just sets me off. Like what really peeved me off was the fact that these militant creatures are marching and you would assume they would have strict militant rules as that many-eyed fucker says "follow me I say" like no shit moron, Then one of the people in your ranks stops to look at flowers, like wtf? imagine if a space marine stopped to look at flowers.

Also whats the point of everything being a megastructure, just for the sake of being a megastructure? like megastructures are cool, but they have no bearing on the story besides, "wow look how big everything is" which I assume goes with the "wow look how old everyone is" and "wow look how big everyone is". what the fuck is the point of having a court being the size of China, does that add anything to the story, does that effect the lives of the characters?

I love Winifred most like many fans, probably only because of satellite city. Everyone’s interested what made her become so guilty and “nicer”. How she build up a relationship with Fleischer. I think we all Winifred fans expect to see her become better in the end, undergo great developement (for the first time in 10 billion years).
If she turns up to just be overbrutal and bitchy all the time and has no other personality than that, then I’ll definitely change my mind on the most favorite character.

I think the whole of "old" satellite city got retconned, so now she's always been a sadistic edgy bitch and probably isn't going to change.

Oh my god the quality is so horrible what the hell, I had to post it here
No offense, but haven't we been through this already? We've already established that Fennah doesn't have the best pins, and the quality of the pins could use some work. I'm more surprised at the fact that he's only got pins for Lucy, Celia, and Winifred. With all the characters Fennah has, I expected him to make more pins. Like maybe Ludwig or Fontaine or... any character that I actually care about lol. There isn't enough variety when it comes to his merch, that's basically what I'm getting at.
