I'm trying to think of a reason why this looks bad. If I was to give genuine criticism, the only thing I can think of is to make the ears smaller cuz having them that big makes it look less like a cat.
Maybe it kinda looks stuck between realistic and toony?

I can't fully put it into words.

Well, I don’t see any eye hole mesh so it’s clearly supposed to be kemono but the eyes are too close together to be anime-ish. They either needed to be about 2x the size or further up and apart. Like someone else said, it’s like they made a realistic suit and decided to have kemono eyes at the last minute because those Japanese suits are in vogue.

Almost looks like one of the Gremlins:

Alright furfags, I'm thinking of making a cosplay that may or may not be somewhat fursuit ish. If anyone here has some tips or point me in the direction of a good tutorial so my shit doesn't end up in this thread, I'd highly appreciate it. Done similar stuff before but if anyone here has experience/tips I'm all ears.
Sorry for OT carry on

They were dark because no one ever paid attention to what kind of film they were using and would use the wrong film for indoor lighting.
Wouldn't doubt that. I'm sure they just pick "everyday film" and not think of how it would look in the conditions they use it in. I saw this with my parents' pictures as a kid. People don't like to think how it would turn out so we end up with crap.

Join FB pages dedicated to fursuit tips and tricks, actual maker spaces where you can ask questions.
Look on etsy for foam blanks as they are discounted more often

Check thingiverse for free print files.

Browse crafting groups specific to materials like clay or get used materials at a cheaper price.

Do your own research before asking questions to not seem annoying. Also fursuit making pages will have fabric cleanouts. It is much better to get used scraps and dye them then buying new, unless its fur, NEVER cheap on fur

I'm not a furry but i do sew in costuming, hope that helps a little.
