While I was travelling through some part of the forsaken south I ended up eating at a little diner and overhearing a conversation about a man that was nagged constantly by his wife with suspicions about being unfaithful, forced to often sleep in his barn, humiliated by his wife in church, all kinds of shit. In the end, the treatment drove him into the arms of another woman. It was a case of, as the old man put it, 'If you're going to get the grief, you may as well get the gravy.'
Which is to say, the zealotry you're talking about, the desire to call everyone a racist and mistreat them, even when they're making a good faith effort is dangerous. It completely removes the incentives to act in a reciprocal good faith way by regular people, because the well is poisoned by the obvious aim of activists to destroy them. We see that already in the wide spread advice to never apologize, and its only going to get
worse.
I don't know if people will start reading Mein Kempf on the bus or anything, but eventually people are going to start thinking, "All I asked for was a safe community where my kids could grow up, and I was called a Nazi. Everyone on social media said that was Nazism. I never knew wanting your kids to grow up safe is being a Nazi....but thats a good thing, and Nazism is evil, right? Oh no, is the (((media))) lying to me?"
