Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

:story:
How could the Japanese have been so wrong; it wasn't lonely horny men on their own island that would be their biggest cash cows, it was young women with no impulse control half the world away.

I was a pretty big weeb back in highschool and through college, in that time I managed to accumulate some manga volumes, blurays, a few posters, and small figures. 7-8 years is how long it took me to accumulate a bunch of junk I could probably fit into 1-2 milk crates and drop off at goodwill(not my berserk volumes though, never those, :'( Miura I miss you nigga!)

Based on these girls taste in anime it's pretty obvious they've only started watching in the last 3-4 years. Outside of typically girl centric shows like sailor moon and card captor sakura they all seem to be obsessed with zero 2 which has been commented on already itt, but they also seem to like the girl from the bunny girl show I forget the name of.

I watched it back in college because one of my friends insisted it was worth the watch, it's not a bad show, but its nothing worth buying fucking statues or printouts over. I even drove with my friend 2 hours to go see the movie in theaters, and I still can't figure out why these girls like it. Its basically just a harem anime with a little less ecchi, the plots pretty generic, and the mc is a sarcastic retard. Overall 6/10.

What really clues me in though is the lack of yaoi, seriously back when I was in highschool you almost couldn't find a female weeb that wasn't obsessed with shows like Free!. They'd enjoy other shows as well, but the other shows weren't random niche things they were fairly popular well known titles.

These girls all just seem to be into generic weeb/nerd aesthetic.
It's simple: they hoard these animes in particular because they're aesthetic, not because they actually like them. And because merch is readily available, most likely. Good luck finding quality Cowboy Bepop merch, instead why not buy one of the tens of thousands of MHA collectibles. It's kind of sad really now that I think about it lol, these girls absolutely cannot buy merch that doesn't go with the general pastel pink uwu theme, because their room has become a display piece instead of a reflection of their personality.
Yaoi fanatics still exist but I've noticed they're more on the down low compared to the past, nowadays it's been replaced with "WLW." Lesbian ships have become much more popular and all these girls LARP that they're totally gay and into hot women and bewbs. I'm struggling to come up with a reason for this, best I can think of is just simple trend changes, much like everything in this part of society (weebs, tumblrinas, the like) a quirky underused trait can only be quirky and underused for so long before everyone has it and it becomes boring, so they move on to the next quirky underused trait.

It works almost like chemotherapy, in the fact. If Accutane wasn't a modified version of vitamin A, you would get a massive overdose. And even then, Accutane can put a lot of stress on the body. That's why people are fear mongering it, and the myth about Accutane leading to suicide. Which is BS, because it was a rich family which blamed the medicine for their kid committing an hero. Thing is, having acne makes you depressed, which puts you at risk for suicide. Nothing to do with the medicine itself.

A fun fact. Boys do handle Accutane better than girls,

If I would take a guess. Boys have more mass and have oilier skin than girls. If there is any interaction with Accutane and birth control. I don't know
Somewhat of a power level here, but I had a family member who is a pediatric cancer survivor. During his treatment, one of the drugs they gave him with was Accuratane, which weirdly is sometimes used as an off-lable treatment for cancer.

The doctors only wanted the kid's dad to handle the pills and to wear rubber gloves when he did. They didn't want his mom touching the pills just because she hadn't reached menopause and therefore had a chance of being pregnant. The box the pills came in looked like this.

There were a ton of other warnings, but you get the idea. I don't know much about Accutane, but I know that doctors want pregnant women as far away from it as possible.

’m still bitter that I had my weeb phase in my early teens back in like 2008-2013 before this shit was cool
I'm actually glad i had my filthy otaku phase in the late 90s to mid 00s before social media was relevant. Accesibility was more limited and people mocked you for it but at the same time we were spared of all of the cancerous marketing and social signaling that is associated with anime today, The consumeristic black hole that we are seeing now in the western anime sphere was already a thing in Japan for decades but that culture wasn't imported yet, anime felt very low key in comparison with western media, was hardly ever advertised, relied more on word of mouth from small tightly nit communities and there was a lot of cherry picking so you only got the very best stuff that industry had to offer, it really felt more about loving the medium more than anything else, there was no motivation to get into it otherwise, fujoshis were common but cosplay thots and "influencers" were nowhere to be seen.

I actually didn't know 99% of anime was disgusting trash until i got broadband and started really seeing how much garbage is made every year. Teenage me thought anime was all on the same level as cowboy bebop, akira and princess mononoke, i didn't know that i had already seen most of the best and most classic stuff from what was localized on cable or spread around on vhs and dvd.

If you grew up with the current climate you'd still be a weebfag instead of growing the fuck up and moving on with your life. The current mentality allows people to still live their childhood well into their 40s because kids things are cute and cool UwU. It's nothing to be jealous of.

Isotretinoin is fucked up. It was developed as a chemotherapy drug and got marketed to teenagers once people realized it also cleared up acne.

It has a list of fucking horrible side effects including birth defects, depression, and organ damage.

Its a pretty extreme treatment for something that usually mostly goes away with time.

It just feels like the consoom has been ramped up to 11 with social media
Social media has turned everything into consooming (if it wasn't already, sadly im a bit young to know for sure).
For most normies, travelling is just about getting pictures and social posturing on instagram. The tattoo industry has seemed to change since most work (and high paying work) is found by building a following and 'brand' on instagram. It's all about having a cool aesthetic on an instagram account which convinces zoomers that if they pay up they'll feel as cool as your instagram page looks. I mean some people literally call themselves tattoo collectors.

I find fast food reviewer on youtube fascinating. They are a mixture of consoomer and fast food addicts. They shill for chain restaurants while they make a video so they can justify stuffing their faces with processed foods.

Dude look if the Joker was an unemployed YouTube who did food reviews for a living.

At least I can cringe at 14 year old me only wearing an Evangelion t-shirt once or twice, meanwhile these kids are gonna grow up haunted by the memories of going to school in full ahegao ensemble.

I spent all my most intense animu years not even knowing what a dakimakura was, i consider myself lucky for that and that I dropped out of anime fandoms when moe and that sort of stuff was taking over at my early 20s, so just at the right time. I am not sure i would have ever gotten into anime if people my age back then into it were like weebs are now, i would probably have been put off and never touched it.

I took Accutane for a few months when I was 17. I've seen it may be linked with IBD. Even though I only took like 20 mg/day, I developed severe ulcerative colitis in my 20s that I had to have surgery for a few years later. I don't know if the the Accutane caused it, since IBD is an idiopathic disease, but it makes me regret ever having taken the drug.

I definitely wouldn't recommend taking the drug, since there's been so many issues with the drug since its inception. It's probably one of the most controversial drugs ever created. The drug that worked best on my skin was minocycline. I wish had just taken that when I was 17 instead.

I see you are one of my people.
We shall keep these memories alive. It's important the younger generations know Anime Club is a documentary.

:semperfidelis: The Anime Club is an absolute treasure to this world. 10/10 comic, would re-read every year.

Same. The most risque anime things you could get in the Late 90s/Early 2000s were doujinshi, and you had to know the right people at conventions. Even then, doujinshi back in the day was uncommon and always had everything blurred out heavily or just omitted. And Yaoi Doujinshi was all... well. We know the memes.

download.png

At least, back in the day, you could actually avoid this shit by not going on certain tags on FF.net or groups/journals on Livejournal. The fujos had their caves and you could exist in a fandom without ever seeing this.

Nowdays, it's like @RandallBoggs says. Consoom Zero Two merchandise and consoom hentai doujins and film yourself looking like you have down syndrome making the "ahegao" face wearing the sweater meme and phone case. Show off your hentai collection to make sure the boys know you're a cool girl who says 'booba' and 'mommy milkers' with them while wearing a maid outfit. Make your profile pics hardcore yaoi and spam your twitter with it while buying Nendroids to set them up in weird sexual positions. Make those stupid ita bags of your 'ship' and buy kickstarter pride pins to shove in there too. Just fill your life up with low-grade and numerous anime garbage to create a personality, and make sure everyone knows what you jack it to as well.

I'll give the Kawaii UwU gamer girls points for not overtly showing off their degeneracy, but you know if they were given the green card, they'd display it all for our displeasure.

As long as brands are offering sponsorships and simps are offering neetbux then grifter thots are gonna swarm like flies to pigshit. The homely yaoi sperg girls from back then were cringe but they were earnest godamnit

Honestly, did anyone *not* know a Mort growing up in the early 2000s?

Like you said, at least there was genuine passion in what they liked. I don't know if you can equate them to the E-Girls of our times, who probably couldn't tell you why they consoomed so much plastic of Zero Two with anything other than "Stop putting down girls for their interests!!"' and "Let girls enjoy things!"

It bothers me how much people will go out of their way to justify all this. If someone legitimately just said to me "Yeah, it's an indulgence, and it's unhealthy. I know. I'm a retard for doing this." At least you can be like "Well, you're being honest."

But they argue how you're wrong to criticize them for being so impulsive. The worst being that one tiktok that's starts with the high-pitched annoying "I'm a fake gamer girl! I spent all this money on stuff I never play!" while they show off all their plastic pink shit on their desk, with their only games being Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Overwatch. Not that I want to encourage them to waste more money on games they'll never play, but when you've spent more on the shit that decorates your desk than actual games... yeah, you're kind of just here for the fad.

If they showed off they emulated all their games, bought their pink stuff used and their mangas from used bookstores, keeping their spending to a moderate amount, no one here would even be bringing them up. Instead...

Buy the fucking pixel divoo, you impulsive slut. And make sure to get some Starbucks cups and coasters while you're at it.

Fun Fact: KOTOR was a free download for a bit when it first released on mobile in the Playstore...6 years ago.

Also WHO ELSE IS EXCITED TO PAY 50 DOLLARS FOR 20 YEAR OLD CONTROLLERS???? NINTENDO PAY PIGGIES ARE!

It's vomit inducing particularly when there is a fairly competent company called 8bitdo making replica controllers at half the price.

Did you even attempt to read my comment, where I sperg about Accutane?
It can lead to organ damage, but do you know what else can do it? Nearly everything. It's a reason for why you have to take blood tests regularly on it.

Aha? And what if it doesn't go away? Countless people with acne hear this, drink more water, cut dairy and other bs, change pillowcases often. You have the exact same tone of those people that think they know skincare, but don't know shit.

I feel like you aren't telling something, because healthy people can take Accutane just fine. It is linked, but there's nothing written about them not having bad health before taking it. Accutane works by drying out your oils, so of course it would be problematic. If you have prior illnesses.

Hydroquinone is controversial, because retards think it causes cancer. No evidence on that, but it can give unwanted effects, if you don't use it as directed. That's on the person, not hydroquinone.

Antibiotics is well known to wreak havoc on the stomach, so why is it Accutane that is the culprit? We have a skincare-thread here, and I did post a story about a guy that had a bad allergic reaction to antibiotics.

Another thing that's controversial? Parabens, even though there's NO evidence for it to be dangerous.
It's bad for you that you got sick, but I believe in an informed opinion rather than just pinning the blame on something easy. Because it's already "controversial".

Some thread-tax, I really didn't expect this to turn into a discussion about skincare. Other than coonsoming it :stress:
