For me Apostlegate is less about Pat's freakout (although it certainly is funny), and more about the fact that a worldwide news network was about to run a series of articles on a non-existent right-wing trolling network, all based on the word of someone providing fake info as a mole. Pat had tried to label it 'Gamergate 2.0' in the tapes, was actually writing scripts for Hollywood about his battles with the trolls, and was either planning or writing a book about it. He really thought he would become world famous for his efforts.

Just to add to this statement, what does this say about establishment media organizations in general that they would run with a completely frivolous, made up story based on some bullshit concocted by a bunch of autist comedy fans without any real vetting or investigation on their part to find out if what they are reporting on is actually real?

And how much is this type thing happening by ‘bad state actors‘ who have agendas planting damaging misinformation in news media to reporters who are so lazy and aspiring to be famous that they run with it in much the same way those involved with this were willing to run with the story?

It is 100% him in any confrontation, online or off. I think it's becoming clearer now that he likely grew up being told to hide his emotions and didn't learn to manage them. Maybe his school psychologist mom saw small emotional displays and thought "that can develop into a problem!" and squashed poor little expressive Ricky's development when he so much as showed any personality.

Every interaction he's in he's trying so damn hard to appear as the more calm and authoritative person. When someone makes him feel emotional he has to try and deny not only everything they say and points they make, but also avoid any shift at all in his demeanor. He can't feel insulted or upset or angry, his tone can't change, that means he lost control and loses.
The problem being that he is very clearly emotional as fuck. You hear him cracking, you see how certain subjects and statements get him to repeat himself or try to shout down the other person more vehemently than others. The other person has to shut up because he doesn't like what they say - he can't just stop listening. He has to try and convince himself that all doesn't happen.

If you're actually not perturbed you don't keep up a repetitive back and forth conversation for 30 minutes like that. You lose interest much sooner because it is in fact boring and not getting to you at all. You only do it if you actually are feeling emotional, upset and angry but feel compelled to make the other person believe that you aren't. Or make yourself believe you aren't.
