People just leaving, without orders? Unusual, to say the least.
Can't blame anyone for leaving the service now. Hopefully most of the people you mentioned can retire. In a rational, truly professional military, someone at some headquarters would be toting up the cost of recruiting, training, and growing qualified replacements for the experienced people who are leaving. Takes a LONG time to develop a good senior noncommissioned officer, or a senior captain/field grade officer. But I don't think anyone at the upper echelons really gives a shit these days, except for the loss of pilots. Wonder what, if any exodus is happening in the various Reserves and National Guards.
Mighty glad to be long retired, with virtually zero chance of ever being recalled.
