Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

Thanks for sparing me the hour.
Got me thinking, what was the last actually good Night Mind video? 'cause I'm drawing a blank.
his "just acquaintances" coverage was pretty solid, especially when the series fell apart near the end and he started ripping into it. i think that one was from 2019?

Sorry I'm so late to this thread. I know he's been mentioned a lot, but I love the simplistic way Wendigoon does his videos. (Though I do skip his ads, but at least they're easy to skip through). Fascinating Horror is another one that I love because even though he covers tragedies, he does it with all facts and doesn't add any spooky music or bullshit that could be disrespectful. (I'm sure I'll get clocks and that's totally fine, I'm usually late to stuff on the Farms).

I can't stand Nexpo for the same reason. Dude adds 5 minutes of overall silence to his videos talking about a reddit post. Nigger it's reddit.

I watched the whole thing, so its a essentially a 25-30 minute video he fella asleep recording a few times. The story itself is horrific, the people behind it should have been lined up against the wall, and its more proof that people just don't know what they're doing as adults and push their problems onto the highest bidders.

Yeah there are a lot of kids with emotional and control problems but you don't send them to crazy camp to get better.
Otherwise you get shit like this later.

Wendigoon is kind of a breath of fresh air. A lot of horror channels with that many views overproduce their content to look like something you'd find on ID and they develop an air of pretentiousness. He's more like a friend telling you about something creepy and comes off as genuine, and that flesh pit video he did was one of my favorites. And yeah, timestamping your sponsorship segments is very admirable.

I really...... dislike...... the way all of these 'mystery' youtubers..... are starting to talk.... like nexpo......... with those.......... . .. .. . .. . . .. unnecessary ....... .. .. . . .. . . .. . . . .. . . . pauses.
One of my biggest problems with these sort of channels.
Audiobooks go at about 160 words per minute and we talk at about 130. despite that fact Audiobooks sound natural to the ear where this slow drawn out talking does not.

It's probably because people who read audiobooks have some mainstream media training on how to inflect, and Youtubers are on the whole, somewhat retarded.

Not Youtube, and it was probably already mentioned, but what do you guys think of conspiracy podcasts? I used to listen to Dead Rabbit Radio when he used to shill on /x/ and I liked hit when he talked about more obscure conspiracies from icebergs, like Wendigoon did. He's much more focused on True Crime now and I personally don't have much interest in that. His personality can also be a bit annoying, he tends to stay on some jokes for way too long, but he was good enough to waste an hour during bus travels.

Someone uploaded his episode (part of an episode?) about The 2006 Volley Ball Incident, and the guy tried to claim that the case should've had more exposure because it had parts of the #MeToo movement involved, and that there was no reason the case shouldn't have been nationwide news.

The real case he brings up is the Platte Canyon High School hostage crisis where a gunman took several female students hostage and then sexually assaulted them, and it actually was nationwide news until less than a week later when the West Nickel Mines School shooting (the one where a gunman took an Amish school hostage before killing six children) happened.

My point is that he doesn't seem to do very much research, and tries to crowbar in current topics even if they don't actually apply. I don't know, maybe I chose one of his bad videos, but that's what I took from it.

Like I said, I don't really listen to his true crime episodes, so I probably missed this one. But he was like the first guy on Youtube that started delving into weird conspiracies, even if superficially.

Not sure if it counts but the only thing I'd consider 'youtube horror' that I enjoy is Channel 58/Local 58 that has produced some interesting creepy vids as well as a couple cringy/boring ones but the best of them could probably seriously fuck up an older naive person who ever saw them on a 'tv' broadcast instead of as a YT channel. I like the ones hinting that the Moon contains some kind of sanity-stealing horror.

Nexpo covered the channel as well, which probably really dosent say anything good for it. :p

new night mind video is out. lots of larping, autistic number crunching, and ego fondling all around, just the usual.

Probably his Marble Hornets series since he analyses every season in the order they were uploaded with the right amount of input.

Thankfully he does the job of finding new good ARGs while filtering the horrible ones out there. I just go directly into the subject he is analysing without watching his video.

Dark Journalist on Youtube is fucking great. Great research with a chill vibe. His content maybe too longform for some (3 hour long streams type).

Honestly I've been thinking of making my own documentary-style YouTube channel a bit like these, since I know of some pretty interesting and obscure topics. I'm too fucking lazy, though.
That's the spirit! Lazy half assed content is what most channels do these days anyways

Lol finally got around to watching the new Wendigoon video, what a ride. Shame this guy is dead, he would've had a field day if he were alive to witness TRAs.
If anything, technically he achieved the goal of the experiment he claimed to be doing: brought a bunch of people from different countries and religions, expecting them to turn on each other and instead they all become best buds lmao. World peace achieved.
