Didn't have time yesterday, but in the comments of that
New York Times article I posted, somebody said the term "gender-affirming" is the one now favored by the malpractice lawyers, to label the collection of medical procedures done on troons. So that is the term obediently used in the article.
If you are "affirming"--you can't be sued (at least that's the plan) for doing anything, you are only
affirming what someone wants. Since there are no guidelines for care,
anything can be assigned that category.
Maybe "sex change" or "sex reassignment surgery" is possibly litigious? Since you can't really change sex, was someone sued for claiming you could?
So this is the new favored term, since it puts the onus on the troons and the doctors are simply catering to their beloved patients, who
want to be affirmed. Nice trick.
