Sinema is in thanks to Maricopa County abracadabra-ing a win in 2018, despite McSally having a 2 point lead on election night with 99% reporting. They kept the "emergency voting locations" open several days after election day (the "emergency" being "people are voting incorrectly").

At this point I don't think Twitter even remembers whats in the bill. I certainly don't, other than that they tried to stuff it up with enough partisan bullshit to accomplish most of their agenda with one piece of legislation. They're just fuming at this point because every day that passes is another stinging reminder of how impotent the Democrats are in Congress.
As for the other bill, the "stop a government shutdown" one, Schumer said they'll vote on a 'clean' bill (i.e. no Democrat partisan BS in it) that will postpone the debt ceiling needing to be raised either today or tommorow. That's expected to pass and will kick the can down the road... until December 3rd. Yep, that's right. In a couple months we'll be right back to fighting over the debt ceiling again.

Yup. And how many pages is this bill going to be this time? A few thousand? All by design, of course, because Americans could not be assed to read every bit of minutia being snuck into this bill. In a just world, a true "infrastructure-only and nothing else" bill would probably be like 100 pages or less. Not to mention a fraction of the absurd price tag it is now.
What's in this bill matters not at this point unless it somehow gets passed, in which case we brace our collective sphincters for a brand new Great Depression. Pray that it doesn't pass.

I'm a licensed wildlife rehabber (specifically Squirrels). About 3 years ago during baby season there was a wave of baby deaths among rehabbers unlike anything anyone had ever seen before. Thousands and thousands of baby squirrels died. One woman, who was a rehabber for many decades and was very respected for her knowledge of baby squirrels just threw up her hands and retired because of the emotional turmoil of losing so many babies. She no longer rehabs baby squirrels.
Much investigation was done in the rehabber community and it turns out that two of the most common providers of the formula used to feed baby squirrels - in both the companies, the founders had retired and their sons had taken over the business. First order of business as always when the kid takes over? Let's see where we can cut corners and make this product for much cheaper while charging the same.
Turns out in both companies, the sons who took over decided to ditch the higher quality calcium that was made domestically and both opted to go for cheap calcium sourced from China.
Turns out that while larger animals like puppies and kittens could tolerate this cheap calcium, in smaller animals like Squirrels, this calcium could not pass through their system and literally turned to concrete in the baby's stomachs and killed them. Tons of autopsies done on dead babies showed that when their stomachs were opened, they were full with something that resembled a mix of concrete and wet sand.
For the rehabber community this was a horribly tragic time and I admit, I almost left it as well. But rehabbers are a resourceful bunch and many of the more chemically educated rehabbers helped to develop all kinds of formulas using various items such as cream and goat's milk to use as substitutes. More labor intensive but still better to the alternative.
On top of it, no matter how many cases of dead baby squirrels were presented to the companies they continued to deny that their new, cheaper Chinese calcium was responsible for it.
Nonetheless, constantly testing formulas and developing alternatives because of this has become a normal part of being a rehabber and is written about constantly on animal rehab forums.
It still is an issue - One website that provides supplies for squirrel rehabbers (Henry's pets) states in red that they're still seeing baby squirrels with calcium problems and to switch to homemade forumas or another brand.

3 trillion dollars of pork and a lot of it has nice sounding progressive buzzwords like 'equity' or 'green' or 'climate' attached. They all think it's already paid for anyway and many progressives subscribe to MMT anyway where the government can run the money printer as much as it wants and it doesn't matter. So to them, the infrastructure bill is more than just money to fix our roads and bridges and internet infrastructure (which I do think we sorely need) but a big step towards becoming some eurosocialist green utopia that those mean old Republicans are blocking out of boomer spite.
