Guys it's possible to overthink this.

I work in psychiatric care, dude.

There's no magical list of people who have been hospitalized, no list of people who have been diagnosed bipolar. Half the time doctors don't even share information among themselves, which is why it's so easy to doctor shop and collect medication like Pokémon.

Wishful thinking but trust me, you'd be hearing a whole lot of protesting about human rights violations if everyone who got psych care got stuck on a list
My understanding is that they're supposed to flag anyone who has been involuntarily committed. I also understand that this doesn't always happen. Is that correct?

This is not how any of this works.
Ideally, but not anymore on the law-enforcement side; and they're certainly not going inform lowly psych counselors of the fact.

It depends on the state/municipality, and if the person is a .gov employee or veteran (then it's guaranteed); but the law(s) have existed on the federal level since 2007; the fed left it up to the states to draw up their reporting methods, but the standard has existed since then. The one constant is that a psych hold (voluntary or otherwise) is supposed to be reported to NICS.

Good luck if you live in a big city, or land in a detox center for any reason; even drunks drying out (possibly exhibiting DTs) are being reported as psych holds, depending on how lazy the facility is (and if it's actually a detox center).

Interesting that she posted an hour ago about it being her one year anniversary on T, since that's been a debate here in the last few pages.

Maybe she really is reading

It also looks like she adopted another cat, yet is begging for coffee. If you can't afford coffee between two people, you probably shouldn't be adopting more animals. But then again, we have seen how she's super into neglecting living beings.

They say if you give chimpanzees infinite time they’ll eventually bang out Shakespeare unknowingly on a type writer.

She tweets SO damn much there is bound to be some coincidence. I think she’ll go nuclear if she finds out about her thread & will mention KF by name.

Second Amendment rights are fundamental and can't be arbitrarily taken away without due process. Nor are psychiatric records available to any random snoop. From the ATF:

States that purport to establish a regime that takes away Second Amendment rights without any adjudication are almost certainly violating the Constitution.

However, Colorado is not such a state, unless they've changed it in 2021. Therefore, the only mental health prohibitions are those defined in federal law.

Note: Colorado does have a "red flag" law, and such laws are subject to abuse, but in theory, require that the target pose an "extreme risk." It's possible she says something crazy enough to constitute such a thing, but so far as I know, she hasn't yet, even if it may seem "obvious" to us that this woman is obviously batshit beyond belief.

love it, Bonnie is even there with her and any time she needs something she asks Twitter for grift bux instead of either of them paying their own way. You can’t tell me she doesn’t have enough money for a cup of coffee. It’s incredible that we don’t all have fake trans twitters we use to ebeg for Starbucks $$$

i wonder if Bonnie and sky have a joint bank account? Maybe that’s why Bonnie can’t pay for stuff he needs while staying with his mistress?

If she's on T, it's back alley. The only prescription she's ever discussed going back through from 9 months ago to 2 years ago is crazy meds. (and how she doesn't take what's been prescribed).

Involuntary holds usually make their way into the NICS system- but in a lot of places you can just buy privately from an individual selling a single firearm to avoid the background check.
To commit someone involuntarily, there's usually court/legal paperwork. This is how it's added to the database, it's not doctors reporting their patients, it's paperwork outside their purview that is public knowledge getting added. This doesn't violate medical privacy laws, but nets most people who were committed against their will.

The system isn't perfect so some who should be barred from purchase aren't, and some who should be allowed to purchase get stopped. It's been under funded for a long time, so it's not likely to improve any time soon.

That's as dumb as saying you lost your virginity to a tampon

In elementary school I knew a dude who was convinced that no men are virgins because when you are born you are "in your mothers vagina" and are therefore not a virgin.

I told him being a virgin means you've never had sexual intercourse and that the process of being born is not the same thing as having sexual intercourse. He got all hangdog and depressed after that and I felt bad for bursting his bubble.

I've been of the mind she kind of hid her crazy at work because she was in love with the husband, something I think if he was aware of but he ignored.

She made a big show of waiting for the husband to get home away from the wife when she was going to quit to tell him how evil the wife was and how nobody should be with her at all, and Alyssa made no real effort to quit until Bonnie entered the picture. I think once she had a new love target lacking a better term she lost interest in the husband and that contributed here in a big way.

Now the job was “transphobic?” I thought they didn’t know about her being trans and the reason she quit was because of “abuse?”
Everything is phobic. But phobia is a fear...

Gee, KINDness, that isn't very KIND to quit and call your employer troonzphobic in that disparaging way! What would be the KIND thing to do?

A hold under something like the Baker Act or California's 5150 should not be in NICS since it is not an adjudication and federal law does not prohibit firearms ownership by such people. NICS purportedly only consists of information which would lead to a federal prohibition on firearms ownership.

California does have a five year ban on firearms ownership by anyone who gets a 5150 hold, but that is state law, not federal.

Someone with either type of hold, though, could honestly answer "No" on the mental health question on ATF Form 4473, though. To quote the form itself:

And as the form subsequently explains:

They have enough trouble actually getting the information that would actually lead to a prohibition on firearms possession, so if they're entering legally irrelevant information into the database, they're doing it wrong.

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me that before quitting the worst thing they noticed was that she was glued to her phone a lot, but that's not unusual with 20-somethings today. The reason why she's acting so crazy on twitter - and presumably now in real life - is because it gives her attention and validation. They're basically feeding the BPD attention monster which is the worst thing you can do... well except if you want to produce milk for us New Zealand based farmers that is.

Should've given him the nickname motherfucker.

It shouldn't, but it does.
She's a protected class anyways; not so much as an average white male, and veterans are just plain fucked.

The wording is deliberately vague when it comes to who can do the adjudication; "lawful authority" can even be a state social worker, not just a court.

A lot of states have a catch-all that allows the licensing agency in charge of such things to refuse to issue depending on fairly vague criteria, but even those states have some administrative appeals process, and generally quasi-judicial decisions like this by an agency can be challenged in an actual court.

A 5150 hold though is not a "formal commitment" as the plain language of the statute requires. I'm not saying that a lot of places don't do it wrong, but well, they're wrong and it will eventually bite them on the ass. Colorado, though, is generally pretty laissez-faire on these issues and is a shall-issue state. It does not add any mental restrictions so is governed strictly by the bare minimum federal requirements.

So unless she's actually been convicted of a felony or committed (an open question), she's probably entirely entitled to purchase a gun from any legal seller, other than the possible illegal drug issues any of these crazy troons seem to have.
