With the fact that Arceus Legends is based in Sinnoh I could easily see a spin-off movie with Ash involving Dialga time travel to ancient Jubilife.

I don't know if the previous movies involving Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia will be relevant. I've never religiously followed the Pokemon anime after my childhood, are the movies supposed to be canon, or are they generally considered to never have happened in regards to the main series?
To my knowledge, the latter.

There's an argument that Rise of Darkrai (probably my favorite of the D/P movies tbh) is canon because it's where Dawn got the Lunar Wing that was then used in the anime proper, but honestly, I think the first movie is the only movie that is truly canon given that the anime actually built up to that movie. The 16th movie is also almost canon due to the Genesect, but plans for Best Wishes involving stuff like Plasma vs Rocket got fucked due to the earthquake, and the movie's plans also were getting fucked due to anime Mewtwo being copyrighted to Takeshi Shudo's estate they couldn't get the rights to for a while. The second Mewtwo (a.k.a. Newtwo) was supposed to be the original Mewtwo, but they were forced to rewrite the character at the literal last minute, which caused a snarl in Mewtwo's lore that I think I've already sperged on before in the past.

But the D/P movies minus the Zoroark movie are the only movies that are an actual trilogy, one that leads into the other. It's kinda interesting, not gonna lie, but I think Rise of Darkrai was the better of the three. Giratina and the Sky Warrior would've been really good for Giratina alone if it wasn't for the fact Shaymin is a fucking bitch throughout the movie and not in a good way, I thought. Legit keeps me from getting the movie on DVD, she's the Sonic to my Eggman.

Don't let this face fool you, she's a snooty cunt.

I'd honestly be fine with Game Freak just shoehorning them into SwSh in an update even if it doesn't make chronological sense. Just bring back that old time machine technology they invented to explain how you transferred your Mons from RBY to GSC.

Speaking of the movies, my favorite Pokémon movie is still, to this day, 4ever. I think the concept of time travel is very cool, if still complicated. But they simplified it and tied it up pretty nicely. Oak also being one of the heroes and seeing him when he was younger, and the world was too, was interesting.

It does bring up some pretty odd questions for me, like how or why the Wind-Up Heavy Balls were phased out, or how Oak doesn’t remember or recognize generation 2 Pokémon until much later (despite meeting them as a kid).

I think a nice detail I remember is that when they get back, oak has the sketch he made in the forest with ash all those decades later. There’s something kind of mind blowing and sweet about it, he waited for his friend for probably half of his life or more, ready to give him that pikachu that saved his life and saved the world.

Yes, I am dramatically biased since it was my first Pokémon movie on VHS.

The first movie really hit me in the feels as a kid, and the turn to stone scene is pretty impactful when you don't see Ash basically dying coming. Though I'll always be partial to Pokemon The Movie 2000 because I remember going to see it in the theater with my little brother and getting the promo cards of the legendary birds and Ancient Mew.

I have bias towards the first movie as well if only because Mewtwo and nostalgia power, but I really like Spell of the Unown, Pokémon Heroes, and Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Heroes is a weird one, though, because it doesn't have that deep of a plot compared to the other two, but Altomare was just such a nice place (being based off of Venice doesn't hurt), and Latios and Latias were really amazing non-telepath Legendaries, oh, and Annie and Oakley were pretty fun. Also I think was the second Pokémon movie I cried over outside of the first film, like holy shit.

Lucario was mostly just because of Mew and I love Mew to death, but there was some really cool lore introduced that I'm a sucker for, and Lucario wasn't that bad in the movie for a non-Legendary. And of course, it was the last time the original 4KIDS dub actors were in it together, so there's some sentimentality to it.

Spell of the Unown I think is the only movie where Ash in a fit of rage drove the plot through walls and kept going due to how extremely personal the events were for him. 2000 had him just kinda be dragged/stumbled into the role of a hero, but in the third film, he actively chose the role if just to get his mom back and fought his way through. Molly being the antagonist makes her one of the most interesting characters of the series, and I'm still debating on who's more tragic, her or Mewtwo. Oh, and Entei was fucking amazing despite being a figment of her imagination. Maybe I cried over him in the theater, I don't remember. Maybe it was my friend who did.

Pleasant surprises were Temple of the Sea, Rise of Darkrai, Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, and The Power of Us. There were also the split Pokémon Black and White movies, but it still baffles me they ended up doing that. If I had to pick a favorite of the two, it was the Zekrom one, and I think it's just because Zekrom is cool, and he's so cool that even the manga adaptation had to go with that one.

I don't remember Temple of the Sea that well, but I think that was the last movie I seen, I adored all the ones leading up to it for sure. I'll be honest, the movies slap. For whatever reason they really do step up their game, I'll always remember this specific part from Temple of the Sea just because they really fleshed out what what would be like to live in the pokemon world. Like, using psychic pokemon to to make water float and use it for a mid-air water show? Hell fucking yeah, they need to add more creative shit like this just in general and show types actually interacting in game.

Sucks that it gets memed on hard today because of it was the inception of the "Regi noises." However, I liked their dynamic as the antibodies of the Tree of Life, horrifying as those things were, JFC.

The movie also had those touching Sir Aaron moments (for a kid, at least).

That it took people this long to realize how silly/awesome the Regi cries are I guess is a testament to the power of boredom, but if it gets more folks looking into the movie, I can't complain. But oh yeah, the Tree of Beginning is like some kind of cosmic horror or something, like why the fuck does this thing exist in the Pokémon world to begin with? Does Mew ever get to leave, or is this individual forever stuck there? What happen to intruders who get swallowed up by the antibodies, they die, right? Suffocation, or by being digested alive by the antibodies? Why did the Tree create guardians in the form of the Regis? Is that where the Golems actually came from, from the people of Sinnoh/Hoenn building them out of respect for the Tree or something?

Fuck, man, this thing is scary, but I can't help adoring the setting of it.

The axe one feels like it could've been an unused Sw/Sh design. Honestly, the designs I'm seeing so far mesh very well with sw/sh, I look forward to seeing more.

Well there’s a fucking smartphone in ancient Japan, so…

I think the hype for Ash’s Lucario is because in the movies, Ash was revealed to be descended/reincarnation of a legendary hero tied to Lucario who could also wield Aura. So I’d imagine the hype is lore-related.

And I also really like the new Scyther evolution, and can see the design inspirations.

In TCG-related news, it appears that the US/CAN Pokemon Center is cancelling TCG orders (more than likely containing products that have Celebrations packs in 'em) that have evidence of botting.
Screen Shot 2021-10-02 at 2.06.40 AM.png
Judging by the pic it appears that this guy's friend placed 212 orders of which I can only assume contain 4 of each Celebrations product (A Collector's Chest, Pikachu V-Union Box, and a Pokemon Center-exclusive ETB) that was available on the site last month.

And the general consensus? It's basically the video below whilst also asking the question "why the hell is TPCi so incompetent in designing a bot-unfriendly website?"

So I've been playing Pokemon Unite and I been having a lot fun with it. It's a really nice to play when you have 5-10 minutes to kill.

What was the fuss with this game initially? Was it the paid aspects of it? The only things in the game that are locked behind its "Premium currency" is stuff you don't need (comestics and a few items in the shop) and the battle pass (that gives you free stuff even if you didn't pay for anything anyway).

Hell, this game actually very F2P friendly. It gives you bunch of playable mons to mess around with and get a feel for the game at the beginning and it gives you a bunch of free stuff you can use to further improve your gameplay.

I know it sounds like I'm shilling for the game, but I just want to get across that this is a lot more fun then I'd thought it would be.

The fuss was tha Tencent, a Red Chinese company, partnered with Nintendo in making the game.

Say what you will about the meme, but that movie did an excellent job of showing off what legendary pokemon are supposed to be: eldritch, terrifying, absurdly powerful pokemon that should never be approached without extreme caution (especially by mute 10 year old kids). Kinda sad Registeel didn't get more "lines" in that movie its cry was amazing. Honestly the fact that the 8th film is regarded as one of the best in the franchise and it involves my favourite trio is pretty satisfying.
