I feel like gay damage control is like mainstream-streamer tourette's. They literally can't help it. They qualify everything to avoid pissing people off. It's a weasel's way of being brusque, but also handwaving it away as harmless.

I'm really curious as to how you guys think professional referrals ought to work, if something like this is so unethical in your minds.

Of course he'd refer someone seeking representation to a lawyer he's connected to. That's what a referral IS.

Think of a professional referral like asking a chef friend for a recipe. You wanna know how the recipe for german chocolate cake, but you are given a recipe for black forest cake instead. Yes technically you were given a german chocolate cake recipe, but it isnr exactly what you asked for or needed.

Also context is missing, we dont know how Vic asked for a referral, but its assumed he asked for a lawyer to handle the defamation case. Just because Nick technically gave him a referral of someone who could do it, he didn't give that information out based on the best chance of helping Vic win. And if you paid attention back when weeb wars kicked off you will remember Nick down playing the likely hood of Vic winning, but hyped up the importance of getting Vics story out because that is best way to win by not isolating Vic from his fans.

When you look at it from that angle it seems suspicious that Nick would choose a friend that isnt an expert in that area to suggest. And then try and manage expectations from the beginning because Ty gets paid whether or not Vic lost.

Tldr In my opinion it was shady because Nick didnt try and set Vic up for the best chance at winning, and instead Vic hired his friend who got paid and fed Nick info to use on stream to grift super chats.
