I'm willing to accept that over ten years, the "we wrote this" notes could get mixed up with the "here's an article we can use for reference" notes. I don't think you have to be fatally credulous or foolish to buy that. Sometimes I'll find documents or Internet posts that I wrote ten or more years ago and have absolutely no recollection as to the context they were written in. But if you already had a hard-on about hating these guys and it makes the stiffy even harder to imagine that these guys intentionally plagiarized their script and released the video to an Internet full of autists and dedicated haters and didn't think they'd ever get called out on it, go ahead. It goes against Occam's Razor for the rest of us, though.

tl;dr: lol calm down
No, we just fundamentally doubt a 6 minute long summary of a movie with 9/11 comparisons was in drafts for ten years.

The issue is why would James hold on to his review for a decade? He was still doing Monster Madness at the time, so why wouldn't he had done a video on 28 Days Later if he already had a script written up? It's more likely Justin cooked up a bullshit story in order to protect his Screenwave buddies.

What I'm sure has been a pretty bad week for Screenwave and James, has now just gotten worse. A further allegation has been made that the second Monster Madness episode also features plagiarised content.

From a recent Reddit post:
https://streamable.com/kegfhp - Three clips of the below quotes all in order

Looks like they probably ripped off screenagewasteland.com

I just happened to go to the Cinemassacre video list directly on Odysee.com yesterday around 6PM Eastern or so (instead of on cinemassacre.com), and I saw the video listed as first so it was uploaded after episode 1.

The review was named Bad Taste (New Zealand, 1987) - Monster Madness - Around the World (Episode 2)

I've only gone through the first half of the video paying attention to quotes, but here is the plagiarism so far, in order:

1) "Bad Taste is the story of four men from a government agency trying to deal with an alien invasion of a small New Zealand town" - https://screenagewasteland.com/bad-taste-1987-review/

James quote from video: "Not those boys, but these four men from a government agency trying to deal with an alien invasion in a small New Zealand town" (1:39)

2) "Like Peter Jackson who directed, co-written, acted, edited, cinematography and did the special effects" - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092610/reviews - post by user lost-in-limbo:

James quote from video: "So Jackson handled acting, writing, directing, cinematography, editing, and special effects for the film." (2:06)

3) "He’s bloodthirsty (his interrogation methods include pounding a bayonet into Robert’s heel while hanging him upside down off a cliff), clumsy, funny and a little too full of himself" - https://screenagewasteland.com/bad-taste-1987-review/

James quote from video: "He's bloodthirsty, clumsy, funny, and a little too full of himself" (2:28)

Edit: the timestamps listed above are from the original video. And the title should say 10/1/21

Wait, they released another one? Are they fucking retarded?

Not taking plagiarism seriously has sunk many careers, and I'm in awe of this incompetence. Once it was made aware that there was plagiarism in the batch all of them should've been thrown out and fresh ones should have been made under extra supervision. But, I guess, that would take too much of James's time. We all know how little time he has.

Now we know why that video was up for a little while yesterday before it got taken down. It has to be Newt otherwise it will supposedly be another mix up with the notes in the review James made for the movie, At this point, they have to delay the release of these videos or it will only get worse for Screenwave and James.

For monster madness, does James or the slobs write the scripts? I saw on a thread discussing this topic that both sides should not be plagiarism in the first place; however, if it James writing he loves the horror genre, why can hear what he says about a movie for a more personal experience (no time I guess for doing his passion/job)or if it the slobs, did Mike do the older videos and James read it off?
If it's true about the second video being plagiarized, there are no excuses for that and keeping the reputation intact.

I only learned about this plagiarism scandal just now. Man, it's really just sad. James phoning in AVGN as a means to pay the bills... sure. It's not his real passion, it's just something he ended up doing out of popularity... but movies are supposedly his passion and yet here we are. There is really no good outcome - either he plagiarized it or he didn't write (or steal, rather) it - both cases show almost no actual passion for what he is doing.

Honestly, I just have to assume that James is dead inside at this point. He doesn't seem to put effort or care into anything and lacks even the smallest amount of creative energy. I have to wonder if his 'no time' shtick is just an excuse to be lazy or if he truly is nothing but a parenting drone with no life outside of it.

Crazy to see that Mike of all people was apparently the brains behind everything.
Honestly Mike is just a Shock Jock on youtube. He screams like an insane person, inflicts horrible shit upon himself for the entertainment of his fans and talks about shit, piss and cum all the time.

That is great compared to most lolcows.

I guess this thread's subtitle is now quite literal.
1. Jimmy really copypasted a wikipedia article for a school assignment, OR
2. MM writer did the above and threw Jimmy under the bus, OR
3. Same as 2. but Jimmy voluntarily took the bullet because he gives no fucks what people will think about him, OR
4. Same as 2. but Jimmy took the bullet only to minimize any financial/reputational damages.

Now which one it is...
5. A convoluted plan by James to end his Screenwave contract and force himself into retirement.

Kinda sad we went from having an actually pretty good AVGN episode which is one step forward, and then two steps backwards with this Monster Madness plagiarism issue.

I can kind of understand if there are people are making edits to the scripts, like maybe proofreading or adding some new ideas to make the quality better with some credits and some valuable discussion, but if you aren't capable of watching a movie and giving your own thoughts to it, it just feels no passion is being put into all of it. And plagiarism is the icing on top of this shitcake.

If Chris Bores is the one who is doing this, everyone would shit their pants over it. If James is doing it...

Third (second non-deleted out of four total I think) episode is up, wouldn't even be remotely surprised if this one is plagiarized to some extent as well.

I assume for this one the slobs probably wrote the scripts. I’m not saying it to defend James since he’s been so lazy lately that I don’t think he does anything anymore but read lines others give him unless it’s about shit he actually cares about

Maybe they're playing an elaborate performance art game called Guess who we ripped off next!

I'm legit wondering if James even picks the fucking movies nowadays.
Probably not, he doesn't have the time for that. When that Mortal Kombat review came out where James admitted to watching the movie on mute with the subtitles on, at that point we should of know Monster Madness was going to be a shitshow and a shell of its former self. Then again it's become a bigger shitshow than expected with plagiarism found on the first review on the first day and the original second review (Bad Taste) having to be taken down because of it also being plagiarized as well because why else would of it been taken down?

You could get around that easily by saying something to the effect of "IMDB trivia say's." Done. That's all you have to do.
