PSA: Women will be striking I think
Didn't people like this try to "cancel" someone a few years ago for reacting to another women's strike by saying "at last, the office will be quiet and productive for a day" or something to that effect? I can't imagine whatever strike this group proposes is going to inconvenience anyone in the slightest.
More drama on /r/psychotherapy, the sub for mental health professionals. They're in the process of going private, now it looks more urgent given this new twitter account that is trying to dox the posters.
What does "in the process of going private" mean? (not aimed at you, but at redditors who use this language)
To "go private," you go (as a moderator with adequate access permissions) to the subreddit's settings page, click the little checkmark that says "private," and click "Save" at the bottom of the page. There is no "process" to "be in."
What's so fucking hard about that that people routinely act as if switching a sub to private mode is some gargantuan task that takes weeks of careful planning?
It's similarly infuriating every time some random shithead mod yells at/about the admins for "not providing tools" for this and that. What tools? What, specifically, do people complaining about that actually want? Nobody has ever adequately answered that question. It's like most of them don't even actually know what they want that's currently missing, but they just want to bitch that the admins haven't given them anything shiny and new to play with for awhile (i.e. "what have you done for me lately?"). The few attempts I've ever seen to actually answer that question always yield the same scary answer: they basically want more ways to automate suppression of wrongthink.
I guess some of the recent developments in the medical field where vaccines that have more net negatives than positives are recommended across the board makes me a little more skeptical as a whole.
One politically-driven fuckup doesn't ruin a scientific discipline. Penicillin didn't stop working because various Shaolin Shakes vaccines, all rushed out the door prematurely, have hurt people.
