Interesting. Apparently at the time that the UK did the long/measured drop it was seen as a humane method of execution by virtue of how quickly it could be done. Top record was about 7 seconds from the prisoner stepping onto the platform.

I don't want to be that guy but my grandad (R.I.P.) was there at the UK gallows and he told me that the weight charts were complete bollocks and so were the death recordings.
He said he watched countless men jiggling up and down trying to kill themselves faster as they were writing down how he died cleanly in 3 seconds.

I get nightmares about this sort of thing a lot. Being somewhere random or in the home, and suddenly there is a warning for tornado, tsunami, earthquake etc, then scrambling to figure out where would be a good place to hide and then worrying about my family/loved ones.
