Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Correct. I read about a soviet MiG pilot who defected, he was told to pass a student who was dangerously unqualified. He refused and wouldn't back down and it escalated to his superiors threatening him with psychiatric action. Good book.

I don't think the CCP is going to take over Taiwan. Flying planes over it is good enough to give boners to all the fervent nationalists.

Chinese generals always want the green light, that's no surprise. Here's the thing about Chinese leadership, Xinnie the Poo believes in trying to dominate through economics, the entire Chinese military leadership, and some of the other internal factions, are war hawks who think of China as like the German Empire pre-WWI, a Great Power denied their place in the sun and just looking for an excuse. They're high on their own supply, but that would not stop them from starting WWIII just to try and flex on everyone else. Xi is pretty much the best option the CCP has right now.

I agree. "Generals waiting for the green light on Taiwan" is a sentence you could have written during Bill Clinton's Presidency. Really doesn't tell me much honestly.

If it's leaking out, it's because they're trying to intimidate Taiwan into giving in without a fight. The absolute last thing the Mainland wants is video of burning landing craft and dead Chinamen on Taiwanese beaches after they bumblefuck their way into a disaster of a landing. Leak that shit past their Great Firewall and the Mandate of Heaven is fucking gone.

I was honestly considering just taking a break from A&N prior to the Afghanistan bullshit just because I was getting tired of the constant doomscrolling in general, but now it's a flaming train wreck I can't look away from.
