General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

DDoS number 312 aside, they've definitely left a better first impression on me than Lazulight had, that's for sure. That said, Reimu and Millie aren't my sort of style, but they definitely seem good putting my taste aside. Nina seems entertaining (I do wonder if she could actually get Russian support like Botan), and I definitely like Enna's direction; that said, she's not named Mayuzumi Kai, so I'm assuming it'll no longer be mentioned by November. I feel like more company Vtubers should put attention to their lore, so far it's gotten Mayuzumi massive voice pack sales, plus his face popping up all over Shibuya's busiest crossing. The overall singing power definitely wasn't an overestimation either, Enna especially; I saw mentions to Akiko Shikata in reference to Enna's original song going through JP boards, and she's a pretty fucking good singer. Honestly, the fancy choir does give off a bit of a Yuki Kajiura vibe.

As far as the group song goes, honestly it's probably somewhere inbetween; the BGM is definitely nice, but these lyrics are awkward as hell. How hard is it for Niji to just get an English songwriter? Enna seemingly wrote the lyrics to her own song, and so far shit's like night and day.

Also some of the additional announcement, the first episode of whatever the fuck NijiScenario is (presumably Lazulight-specific?) is premiering on the 15th, and JP voicepacks should be available on the English store soon.

According to SocialBlade, Ashelia has gained 6,000 subscribers over the past week and is now the largest channel in Phase Connect. Does anyone know what caused the sudden surge in popularity?

My first impression on nijien wave 3

Fox - cringe, Honey, honey, honey, actually filters me

Witch - Great opening song, lore, another lore, 15 mins of introduction, good singer, put alot of effort and money on her debut. Overall pretty good

Bird - this opening this lore its as if im watching council lore vod, great singer. Overall pretty good

Ghost - didn't really watch her that much but i did hear her sing. Neutral

One of the more popular clipper channels has clipped her a few times recently. That, plus the Dark Souls 3 streams and some of her short shitpost videos are doing well for her.

I personally like Millie because she's got the potential for being naturally funny and will probably shit out memes on occasion for NijiEN. She's not focused on gaming but Zatsudans which ends up filtering me a bit though. I have my hope in Reimu because you don't schedule 11 (ELEVEN) streams in your debut week without having some sort of ability to keep a stream entertaining. I'm also gonna rrat and assume Reimu is Petra's gamer friend she's talked about and can hope they mesh well together in collabs. Like everyone I have seen has been saying so far, I agree with Nina needing to cut the fucking Honey verbal tic way way down to get me to regularly watch her. Nina's voice is great but the constant Honey-tic is actually testing my patience and personally makes me think that verbal tics just do not work in English like they can work in Japanese. Enna seems like she could be good if she takes some inspiration from Kai and decides to build up her kayfabe lore. She's already intertwined with Millie (which is great because Millie is apparently Lyrica and from what I've gathered Enna is Shannon) so I want to see how they build their lore up.

Honestly the thing that makes Diamond City Lights stand out between Black Out and now God Sees All is that DCL's lyrics were at least conceptualized/written by Hoshikawa Sara, who at the very least has an understanding of the English language. The instrumentals in God Sees All are great but when I lyrics hit I was just left sort of confused. Felt like it was just an AI generated wordcloud vaguely related to the title of the song.

NijiEN wave 3 seems fine so far except for fox girl, her voice is good but damn the constant honey made me completely check out of her entirely. I sincerely hope she tones it down or completely stops using 'honey' cause geez I couldn't keep listening to it.

In regards to their debut song, I still prefer Black Out and Diamond City Lights a close second. Wave 3 song is okay musically but the lyrics are honestly so bad. There's no shortage of english lyricists out there, and so I hope the next wave will have better lyrics for their possible song.

Genuinely don't know what will come of it going forward but figure it's worth posting if anyone wants to dig more into it.

Russian fox seems to be Monkeyism, longtime twitch streamer turned vtuber that gaduated semi-recently.
She's also Canadian (so one more for that scoreboard and probably where the French came from) and her parents are 1st generation Russian immigrants.

Saw some people tossing out some clips as a "red flag" though a few clips isn't enough for me to make much of a judgement call on.

"roasting" a fan for not being subbed to her twitch (Equivilent of a member on YT)

Saying she took up the vtuber avatar because it let's her get away with things that would otherwise get her called a bitch

And someone else linked a long stream that I honestly don't have time to sit and listen through but she does have a bit of the lefty "everything is political and you should always talk about politics even on stream" mindset which could get her into hot water if she brings to Nijisanji since I wager they want to stay the fuck away from that.

I aint gonna doom about her because I don't know much about her and a few bad clips when she'd been streaming for like 7 years might be a nothingburger but I suppose we'll see where it goes.

He could have made a career out of it if he wasnt a greedy retard. Tons of hololive fanartists are getting great work, bunch of them becoming mamas and papas of vtubers themselves. He could have been composing and remixing BGMs for holomemes and other vtubers, perhaps help on original songs, maybe even get picked up for some indie games.
