The child will probably want to know his father. If a child is completely unaware and completely protected from Ralph as he should be, and doesn't have a single direct good or bad experience with Ralph, when he is old enough (around 10+ years) he will have zero negative experiences from absent father, and plenty of bad experiences with family that's always been there (family members hurt kids all the time and rarely notice it). Having no experiences with Ralph whatsoever means the child will have no opinion about him whatsoever and no known reason to dislike and resent him. This will probably make him at least curious about him. When this happens family will start poisoning his mind against Ralph (if they didn't do so before) in an effort to discourage him from creating futile high hopes about Ralph. The child will want a parent that never had a chance to hurt him. This is perfectly logical and a sort of a milestone in itself. What will eventually happen nobody knows.
