I know this was offhand and not literal but I'm going to use it as a spring board regardless.

By the time she debuted she already had 36k subs. Pre-debut she was popular for covers and perhaps other stuff. While we're on the subject of Uto. I'm just happy Nabi didn't immediately disavow her and leave once Uto had the falling out with the Corp she was associated with. My understanding is Nabi doesn't do indi at all and I wouldn't have blamed her for dropping Uto in order to stick to that.

That might mean Uto is still involved with some corporation behind the scenes, it might not. But losing Nabi when she left whatever corp she was dealing with would be kicking a promising girl while she was down and I'm glad it didn't turn out that way.

Amelia has been very clear from the start that she is only interested in collabing with Hololive members for the time being and Amelia has always been very protective of the Hololive brand/company. When Uto blew up, people started barraging Amelia's chat with "Uto collab when", and spammed Amelia's hashtags and the Official Hololive subreddit with Uto fanart. As a form of damage control and to stop people from basically propping up this non-Hololive member for free, she basically had to put her foot down, and refused to call her a "sister".

Most Vtubers are okay with "sisters" shit, and it's a fun way to get collabs, but the main issue was that fans were kind of unruly when Uto was at her peak, even plastering Uto's face in Official Hololive social media accounts, effectively being a free advertisement for this "indie" and free association with one of the most recognizable Vtuber companies.

I don't think Amelia doesn't necessarily hate Uto personally, but again, given her more protective nature regarding Hololive talents and the company, she most likely just didn't want randos suddenly "leeching" from them.

Another way of looking at it which might be over optimisitic but honestly I would say is plausible is that Ame recognized it as something the fans were pushing more than Uto herself and distanced from it "for her (Uto's) own good" since it might have been beneficial in the short term for Uto to have that association with Ame, in the long run it's better that she develop on her own with her own identity instead of just being "Ame's sister" since Ame is pretty savvy with shit like this.

Like other folks noted after a time even Uto herself seemed unhappy with the constant "Ame and Gura's daughter" jokes and things like that, I'm sure Ame recognized the issues that could be caused by it and since she doesn't have the "JP autism" rendering her unable to put her foot down, She just ripped the bandaid off and let Uto grow on her own, which she seems to have managed quite well since then getting out of that shadow of being seen by so many as just Amelia's sister.
