Sam Fennah / FailSafe42 - Atheist furry who dropped out of college; sperged to Bionicle fans about God not existing #SAVEBOB

Well that was fast. Look at her face, she always has the same "Idgaf" facial expression.

What the hell? Book two? Says who??? Boy you haven't even finished your first book, you have come no where close to finishing it and you're already starting book two. Again, he's doing too much at once and he keeps introducing all these characters as if we know them already. Who dafuq is Ripper? Hux sounds familiar but I can't remember him either, and Idk who Elmyra is.
Yippee, new flat characters with the same brainless personality and horrible designs.
Hux I remember from Satellite City, he was a lizard guy with several tails and a camera who had some sort of rivalry with Fontaine and followed Locket. Elvyra is a character that Fennah pulled out of his ass while writing the first book, since he realized that Winifred's first model/design caught the attention of his fans and he obviously had to capitalize on that. (Although unlike the latter, she's less sexualized).

You're right indeed! I just searched for it in the discord and it popped up along with an excerpt that was posted before.
He's writing on book two since nearly half a year already wtf is he mad

ITS OUTTTT
This has got to be his worst one yet. The movements are slow and boring, the voice isn't intimidating like I imagined and that stupid voice overlap effect makes my ears hurt. I expected something more extravagant with how he described Winifred's personality. I expected there to be blood and screaming and fire and rage, but no... it was pretty underwhelming. She is a bitch though, which is everything I expected from Fennah. The ending was kinda badass and I liked the "You will not speak"... imagine saying that to Fennah everytime he talked about his book
.......
Fennah: So Lucy began to contort Celia and-
Kiwifarms: You will not speak.

And for that he made everyone wait over a month. For this.
I don't believe it took him five weeks to make this, seven days fucking maximum.
This has the most limited movement of all the voice tests, on a character who is the most brutal and impulsive. I thought that maybe it takes so long because maybe there's going to be much more going on because it's Winifred. Well, Sam said "Fuck you".
The end sequence where the characters always say something centered around the book is way too short. Show me more of her personality! Let her interact! That is the whole point of this character x narrator sequence. It gave Lucy and Celia much more insight into their personalities. Well, Sam shoved his middle finger upon everyone's face. (the yes ma'm was funny though)
...the only thing I can praise is the hair, I personally love it.
The lighting is off place and makes her whole (especially face) look weird at times. The hair won't save anything in there, what a shame. If he thinks making everything look petty-pretty will make it look awesome, no.

We know at least now he works on two books and animation isn't interesting to him much anymore beside comissions.
I personally maybe think he does comissions to gather the funds for self-publishing his book, but that's just a thought.
Anyways quite awfully disappointing

So he's working on book two (despite not finishing the first book yet), working on commissions, AND animating on top of that. My guy must be a sadist because holy hell is that a loaded work schedule. I wonder who he'll animate next, we have yet to see Shuck or Fleischer or Ludwig or... anyone else for that matter lol.

Okay, I'm not going to comment on the voice actor because I don't really care, but I will talk about the animation.

To be nice, I actually think it looks okay, even if its pretty boring. I think the hair looks nice and not clumped together like it used to be, I can actually tell what texture it's supposed to be if I touched it. The mouth movement as also improved a bit too, and it isn't just jiggling around anymore. One more thing, the anatomy on Winifred is better too.

But here is the problem, Sam shines in very slow and boring animations where the characters aren't moving much I noticed. But when it comes to moving a lot, there are jiggling rip cages, over the top face expressions and the camera goes everywhere. I can tell Sam IS improving, but only a little bit as he can only really do simple things. This wouldn't be a problem if he was a beginner, but he claims to be a perfesional, better than Disney, etc. So, I think this is worth pointing out.

Wait a second. Did he recycle Winifred's past animation moves? Some expressions, angles and movements are identical.
Waiting so long for this shit?
Also, that voice filter, ugh. I remember reading once that her voice was angelic, I imagined something better.

Although, Winifred has always been one of the most problematic characters to animate, that's why she always looks horrible. Fennah says that "heavy and thick" characters are hard for him. Now, considering that Locket is the overdesigned version of Winifred, now I understand why it takes him half a year, or maybe he's bored and is just lazy

I love how he's not even saying who's next, guess got tired of animating and asking "when voice test coming". I'd pick Locket or Sombra maybe, would definitely want to see voice tests of these.
Judging by the "coming soon" another animation can be expected in not earlier than 2022.

I personally and I think a lot of people don't really care about overwhelming quality much. The issue is, that he presents that final product after five weeks of "animating". If he'd be honest and said how much he really spent on that, I wouldn't be so hard on him. If he said "Oh I worked a bit on it in the past five weeks a little here and there because I wasn't so motivated" then I'd even praise the animation. But he's dishonest all the time about his efforts and laziness.
It's just that I'm fucked up with all his "coming soon" and "working on it at the time", so if he claims he worked on it all the time in the last five weeks then I'm going to rate it based on five weeks of "working time".
On the Celia one I think he started working shortly before he posted the WIP, so he worked on her two weeks. I believe it might be the case for the Winifred one too.

yuech. yet another ear waggle animation on a character that doesn't need it.

the ears waving up and down when a character turns their head is trademark fennah laziness. why not have winifred tilt her head up for once and show her teeth when she says 'strike' and have her ears pin back like a cat or something? anything different at this rate. the ear waggle is seen on every single character with large ass ears and its so silly. the second she was turning i knew those damn ears would not act right
i would suggest sam keeping that ear waving for childish characters and not powerful, reserved ones like winifred (or at least how she is suppose to be)

You noticed the ears too? Yeah, they're really distracting and especially when the character is suppose to be intimidating but instead they end up looking like a floppy puppy dog.

Sam will believe that rabbits' ears go crazy when there are strong winds? I ask because his characters' ears look like sheets of paper stuck to their face instead of ears. Or rather, they remind me of those stuffed animals that move their ears, but since they are obviously a piece of cloth under a mechanism, they are only carried by gravity when they are inert.

This... Is... Pathetic.

Ok, why is the audio so shit? Like why? It's awful. The mic quality isn't the issue, it's the set up. The actress needs to improve her set up, reposition her mic, and learn how to properly process her audio. The gain was way to high, and whatever gating she had was too aggressive. Also that echo effect? It's being used to HIDE the shit audio.

Also, she's so... Subdued. There's no gravitas to this performance. There's just detached reading. What was the voice direction? Was he asking for detached superiority? Was this supposed to be a display of power or a tedious execution of duty? She seems bored and distracted. The dialogue implies she enjoys lording her power over others, but the performance was flat. I was expecting this performance to start quiet then build into a manic frenzy of fury and power, it stayed subdued.

With this dialogue I expect her to be rising from a throne stepping around someone who pissed her off, pointed claw placed on the top of their head as a pivot, pinning them not through force but intimidation as she walks around them growing into a frenzy in anticipation for the kill before grabbing tight to hold their head in place one handed as she kicks their body out from under it decapitating them and cackling before tossing the head on a pile of others before instructing someone to take the body away so she can play with it later.

Also the fucking narrator calls this "expressive" expressive my ass. I've heard more expressive vocalizations from the clerk at the doctor's office.

your interpretation would at the very least be more entertaining. fennah's fighting scenes are not that great but they are absolutely more interesting to watch. winifred kicking a body out from under the head would have been cool.
or why not this scene apparently from the Satalite City wiki. would have been perfect even if its not technically canon anymore. at least reference this scene?
Due to her station, Felicity spent copious amounts of time ferrying messages from the Grand Court to all areas of the Kivouack. This meant a lot of interactions with Lucy Lacemaker. Sure enough, the two of them became mates, which drew the attention of Winifred, who decided to make Felicity's life an impossibility. After finally delivering a message late, Winifred made her move. She first tore off Felicity's front right leg and left wing and then burned them. After watching her scream for a short while, Winifred beheaded her. She then had Felicity's body paraded around the Underbirth, after being contorted. Felicity's body was left in the Kasino long enough for it to be of sufficient entertainment to those living there. After which, both her body and head were tossed into the Madness Frontier.

i forget it took him over a month to just spit this out and realized what we could have gotten with a month of work instead.
he has commissions and the book, sure. but he's already working on the second one and ditching the animations that brought the attention fennah needed for those books. priorities lie elsewhere

i wonder if he'll ditch animating entirely just for the books at some point down the road. compared to his previous animation tests you can tell his heart is not in that anymore.

I noticed something too, Fennah doesn't upload the full animations to his Twitter as much as he use to. He only uploads occasional wips or sneak peeks but like... he doesn't upload the animations. You can really tell he's starting to get tired of animation, it's pretty obvious that he cares more about his book. He doesn't upload much in general, on his YouTube or his Twitter. At one point, Fennah was a big deal and he kinda still is but I feel as though that popularity is fading.

Reading through this thread was a pretty funny experience but the highlight of it for me was finding out Fennah’s girlfriend is WhatTheFlup. Jesus, I used to watch her videos all the time in my edgy teenage years. I forgot about her until now - god this is so fucking weird, seeing her again dating this guy. But yeah, thinking about her past content, it tracks. She always had a gore fixation that seems to match really well with Fennah’s fetish for….. something. I wonder when they met?
I really don’t get the appeal of Fennah tbh (I know a lot of this thread is made up of irritated former fans). The only animation of his I found even slightly pleasing is the Railways animation test. It’s just fucking bizarre that after all these years of “tests” he seemingly hasn’t improved on the fundamentals of 3D animation at all, only doing surface level model changes.

As far as I know they met on the internet (in her DeviantArt at one of the plush deviations it was mentioned).

The animating gets more basic and basic like he does the first two steps of animating something but does no polishing to it.
But he must really like writing if he writes already since June on book two, so guess after the Locket test and animated book trailer there rarely will be any animations, maybe once half a year.

Ok, to play devil's advocate for a moment, he might be more or less done book 1 and Ina stage where he's waiting for feedback from whichever test audience and editors he's pulled together. This means he'd actually be in the right to be writing book 2, as many professional authors do just that to keep on schedule, there's no break while you wait, just the next book. There could also be details concerning publishing and manufacturing holding up book 1 and so he's dealing with that while he writes the next book and therefore can't yet give a release date.

However, we don't know what Sam is working on in terms of book 1, his lack of accurate communication on such is a determent to being able to feel like he's not just biting off more than he can chew.

One is a delusional animator with a hardcore fetish for decapitated bodies, the other is a furry... who... has a really weird art style. No seriously, I use to follow WhatTheFlup on Twitter and her art style makes me really uncomfortable for some reason. I still can't believe they're dating each other, they're... such an odd couple like... I don't see the appeal lol.
