Flash is sort of like that early 00's humor.
It wasn't actually funny, it was just novel - it was shocking. Because it opened the doors for a bunch of new creators. You had people delivering fresh ideas even if the execution was bad, and with no Standards or Censors, you could entertain with shock.
Don't have a good idea? Just have CD-i Link say Fuck; holy shit Link Zelda has never said fuck before! That's out of character for a young children'ts game character! LOL!

Most of the early viral Flash stuff was just novel, ideas that had never been done. And once they've been done, they aren't novel anymore. Again, at the time this was ground breaking, but it just ages like fine milk.

It was funny at the time & at that period, but most cases were too 'of the time' to survive. All Your Base produced some great content, but that's because Poorly Translated Videogame dialogue was something people got, and seeing some agregious examples was entertaining because it was relatable. With more global communication (the ability to get access to not just bilingual native speakers, but people who have a cultural understanding for context) and better machine translation, you see fewer so bad its hilarious examples.
Once that bad translation stops being novel and relatable, the content stops being funny.

So it would seem Richy has found a way to make more money...

There is an issue though....

So now we have some more info about what exactly was purchased, literally almost everything (Probably even Doomhouse?)
The store most likely will get taken down due to copyright instead of this going to a lolsuit.
Update: The store Lowtax set-up (Link) has updated its inventory. Everything SomethingAwful related has been removed and he has added four new items which I have added a shitty gold star to for ease.

Jeff keeps on winning.

I can't lie: I chuckled at the Impact Font in Comic Sans shirt.

I never thought I'd see something worse than moofwear.

Dontrel the Dolphin wasn't funny a decade ago and it's not funny now. Let the forced meme die already, right alongside the terminally unfunny Goku Pants thing.
Pretty sure Lowtax doesn't own the image rights to Dontrel the Dolphin. He literally can't do anything without doing something illegal, stupid or both.

I'm assuming that Dontrel's creator died of a crack overdose years ago though.

That was a shitty flash game made by what I assume was a twelve year old I'd be surprised if the creator has thought about that shit in a decade. Also copyright doesn't mean shit unless someone's willing to sue and I would love to see whoever made that shit to sue Lowtax over that sweet 37 cents he probably made off of that and that's the high estimate.

The "charm" may be entirely nostalgia but we'd have no way to tell
It was created at a time where we didn't really have any problems. April 2007 was when it was not racist to think the president was a retard, the housing bubble hadn't collapsed, and the Internet was still a wild west. Basically the very tail end of the 'good times'. This reflects it. Children online were interested in silly videos and catchy music. I have an entire archive of this music that was popular during this era: https://kiwifarms.net/archive/7/

I feel like kids these days are exposed to a huge amount of sadness and porn. The #1 meme with children between 10 and 18 seems to be the Zone hentai cartoon about the Egyptian cat fucking the Villager. I think that kids are now raised by their phone to be afraid of racism and fascism and terrorism and repentant for being white, in an era of perpetual COVID fear mongering, and then their memes are just porn put out by like 4 different megacorps that own the entire Internet. It's a different time for sure.

The 24 hour news cycle and politics in everything is definitely new and not healthy. The older internet also seemed more benign, corporations weren't salivating over your personal data and there wasn't so much invasiveness.

The porn thing is a little unsettling. There was a lot of it before but you had to go looking. Now? It's hard to avoid.

Personally I feel like the internet has become hyper real. Instead of an online place with fairly well delineated borders, the internet is just another fixture of daily life. Everyone is constantly thinking about how they appear to others online and trying to put out this idealized view of themselves. It's different than pseudo anonymous kayfabe because it's not really a character they're playing.

Rich has been ahead of the curve in that regard I guess. There's no Kauffman-esque character he's playing. He really is a washed up web 1.0 pillhead trying to sell gen X jokes to zoomers.

We've never had so much news and politics. In the before times, news was in the paper, on the radio or on TV. Now? Unless you opt out, you get updates sent to your phone, your browser automatically populates a feed and every platform has shills and ads telling you what to feel and think. It's nightmarish.

Lowtax is late to the Dontrel party.

I agree. Thinking of all the places I hung out as a kid online (mainly Yahoo chatrooms, GameFAQs messageboards and proto social networks like Myspace) there was never any political sperging or really anything about current events; the closest you'd get was occasionally someone would have 'FUCK BUSH' in their Myspace bio because they heard the geriatric millionaire from Green Day say it but that was it. Nobody talked about politics because it was boring old people shit.

Now there's literally nowhere you can go without having this shit shoved in your face. Twitter? Constantly in the sidebar, no matter how much you say you're not interested, and they even send you notifications now of 'recommended' tweets that you can't disable. Facebook? All that's left on there is boomers politisperging, all the fun meme pages got yeeted. YouTube? Again, forces news and politics on you through the sidebar recommendations (despite the fact I mainly watch vidya-related content) and they won't stop no matter how many times you say you're not interested. Netflix? Seems like everytime I load it up there's a new 'FUCK WHITE PEOPLE' documentary being plugged. Reddit? Speaks for itself.

I'd fucking hate to be a kid in 2021, it must be utterly miserable to have all these amazing devices and services at your disposal yet you can't use any of them without getting idpol pozzed from every direction.
