General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Lately ivd been keeping track of this schizo trad cath anime fan because he mentioned he was working on some hit peice video on vtubers says it will be done by the end of the month so I'm looking forward to laughing at that

That pax nigga is an entertaining read/lookup

He is head janny of a tradcath discord that spends their time circlejerking about being tradcath and going full (((them))) on trannies, jews, women, etc

Also worships an anime girl from a coomer anime, ironically enough

UnluckyCat got massively tilted by YT chat calling him a jannie and to clean up chat after someone spammed a bunch of slurs that start with N. And then one exceptional individual in the discord also called him a jannie and that fully tilted UnluckyCat. /pcg/ was also railling him for being a concernfriend over Pippa's "sickness" at the start of the stream.

A little while after another PhaseConnect mod Cipher posted in the thread. He has posted backchannel mod stuff in /pcg/ in the past which is pretty yikes and kinda unprofessional if you ask me. Funnily enough he has posted he face on his twitter and he looks about what you'd expect from vtuber mod but black.
Cipher is also the mod that Lia bonked for being a nazi during her DS3 stream. He posted in /pcg/ that he was busy watching Deep Space 9 in bed and was on his tablet moderating at the same time.

Sakana fucked up with how he went about getting mods. He recruited them too early. He recruited them with no input from the talents instead of picking trusted and dedicated members of a talents viewerbase so it was mainly attentionwhores who applied in the first weeks of PhaseConnect's life. He also keeps them super separated from the talents so there is constant issues due to lack of communication about how they want their chats managed. (See Tenma's multiple cases of her popping off on the mods.) It's no surprise that the best mod in PhaseConnect is Lia IRL friend Kagi. There needs to be trust between a streamer and mod and how Sakana went about getting mods completely fucked that up. Additionally most of the mods have to moderate all of the talents chats instead of each talent having mods specific to them and a couple head mods to communicate in between.. Cyberlive's mods are infinitely better due the talents actually picking their mods and those mods mostly being exclusive to them. Most of PhaseConnect's mods are attention whores who just wanted a shiny blue name and wrench next to it.

He shoulda let the girls pick their own mods.
I mean, there is something seriously fucking wrong if Zax looks competent next to any of these fags.

Who do you think the primary audience for male vtubers are? I remember most of the Nijisanji EN girls have talked about how they got interested due to the Male JP livers. I believe the only two that expressed primary interest in female Niji livers are Pomu with Mito (though she still watches some males iirc) and Rosemi with Ange Katrina. The female fanbase for them exists they're just not as vocal it seems.

The female fanbase being the most vocal for male vtuber kinda proves a point though, doesn't it?

And I'm not saying that only women watch male vtubers. I like watching male YouTubers in general. But I've heard it is quite hard to be a male vtuber. Perhaps because the ideal quality is being attractive to women?

A good mod is like a free manager-lite. They can do tech support, find games to stream, help with brainstorming, all of sorts of shit. While PhaseConnect's mods are unironically chat janitors. All they do is clean of chat.

Specifically on the spam bot. They almost certainly permaban the account. It's just there are a thousand different accounts with all the same name posting the same message.

Nightbot could probably handle that, but that isn't on a random mod to set up.
PC mod had a meltdown? Do tell

I have yet to see any VTuber corp with editors.
Not managers.
Not moderators
Not whiney jannies.
Editors.
When VTubing catches up to dead trees then I'll be sold on it as a medium.

That is probably the only thing they are allowed to do.
Can't find the discord message but iirc a few weeks ago Uruka had some issue with Mario Kart and her NAT type and UnluckyCat jumped into her discord channel muted and typed to her how to fix it. After that I remember him posting in #no-mic(gets purged weekly) that those 5 minutes of tech support was the most he ever talked to Uruka. So I think you're on the money. The mods do fuck all besides clean up chat and occasionally setup members only games.

Welp, I guess I have to contribute eventually. Pray forgive my virgin screencap post.

Sakana even dropped by too, in that 20 minute gap between Cat's posts.
The rest of it is just chatter awkwardly trying to change the subject.

Actually IIRC, even in their case their ratios are usually along the lines of 80:20, maybe 70:30 male-female, and that's at the higher end of Kanae or Mayuzumi. The one exception that's known is Harusaki Air, who allegedly had 84% female viewers the last time he talked about it.

A bit outdated, but here's a list that someone compiled last year. Unfortunately I don't read moonrunes, and I'm too lazy of a faggot to actually bother figuring out the romaji, so hopefully someone else does the job for me.

Thank you for saying that. Vtubers are hundreds on miles behind on the livestreaming "meta". Barely anyone has editors. Barely anyone makes edited "highlights" of their streams. Do you know how much money big streamers like Asmongold, Destiny, Ludwig make off of their Youtube channels where they post "highlights". They make a fucking fortune. I blame Hololive and Nijisanji being Japanese and them being the "first" big vtuber companies and them being weighed down being Japanese and how slow the Japanese are to adapting. Now everyone wants to be the next Hololive and just copies them instead of following the normal western model of Twitch streaming/content creation that has worked for far longer than Hololive has been around.

Another thing that's the fault of Hololive and it being Japanese is how awful most EN vtuber's hours broadcasted are. The vast majority of HoloJP's viewerbase is in ONE timezone so they don't need to stream for 6-8 hours to hit multiple timezones. They just need to stream for 2 hours in JP primetime and they hit everyone while an EN vtuber that starts at primetime PST misses EU completely and large portion of the East Coast. There's a reason many big streamers start at midday East Coast and stream for 6+ hours. They hit primetime in EU, East Coast and West Coast.

Last time Subaru did a survey in May her audience was 5,6 % females. I think other girls did some surveys too and the percentage of males were way higher too. But there are female viewers for sure

no one bother to know this or care I guess, but Gyarados (the velociraptor vtuber, you might know him from smash bros jp reaction) got his face reveal due to his friend prank him Livestream him still sleeping.

the good thing is there is no restriction regarding how they need to operate, I mean look Ame is about to hire one (although it's been months since she mentioned it and only one clip she made so far) sooo all we need to do is wait for Ame to move and show the number to the management and see how much shit they can earn besides just selling a pricy merch aboard.

but again with that stuff around, is that mean they will apply the rule for people NOT doing the clip? only watch from the official channel to "support" their talent?

Thanks.
So basically mod got pissed he got called a janny lmao
Here's Enna singing an Enka Ballad from last night's karaoke. Incredible.

I've been a fan of Shannon's covers but her Enna character voice is pulling me out of the experience. I wish she'd use her regular voice instead of the "uwu voice"

Pippa should make that granthh guy a mod, I hear he's pretty dedicated.

Does the concept of "primetime" even apply to VTubers or streamers in general? We're not exactly breaking out the TV trays and adjusting the rabbit ears, sitting down to dinner with the family to watch them.
People's schedules vary wildly, nerds are often night owls, and the rise of work-from-home throws a wrench in things too.
For HoloEN in particular, hitting even a portion of JP's waking hours (with an 8pm EST/9am JST start time or later) might be more important than the entirety of Europe.

Subaru's JP audience is notoriously tsundere to her, and if there's a meme option (the duck) in a poll it will always be overrepresented. So 22.7% might be a lowball, and her viewers might be a little more parasocial than the poll lets on.
That being said, she's still one of the least GFE and one of the least sexualized (in official media that is -- e.g. no mousepad or daki as far as I'm aware), so probably one of the stronger candidates for a healthy female audience, and still only 5.6%.
I'd be really curious to see what the percentages look like for someone like Rushia (heavy GFE), or Choco or Noel (big ol' titties).
