We don't have it as a standard class, it's mostly modern American stuff in regular school like Of Mice and Men and To Kill a Mockingbird like you said, and now more and more political propaganda as time goes on. However, there are plenty of AP, or advanced placement, classes for above average kids that would have specialty lit classes. Phil claims to have taken all AP classes. I still don't know if he's lying, he was smart and gin rotted his brain, or like a lot of AP kids, his parents severely coddled him and paid for tutors, helped with everything, etc. I seriously don't know which of those it is, but the third option seems likely as Phil has all of the qualities of that sort of coddled only child.
No wonder a total nounce like DSP was valedictorian.

AP classes usually count for higher in your GPA, and honors programs usually make academic achievements even easier to pull in than participation trophies. Given we know his schooling focused in religious and sports schools, I cast doubt on him not just being rubber stamped to the top of the class.

My graduating class was full of academic min-maxers who did the AP blitz to be able to boast about +4.0 GPAs to colleges. Then before finals, the AP Bio teacher threw a curveball that all of them botched, throwing the the entire senior class's standings into chaos. In the end, the valedictorian ended up being a known slacker who just happened to have decided not to take AP Bio that year. That's how I see Phil becoming valdictorian, only even easier because he only had to compete with people who didn't need grades to get into a good college.

I am an idiot but my close friends are smart engineer types and phil just doesn't have same personality of a smart person. I don't believe it unless his father did the work for him. He basically had no clue about the geography of the united states in his bully playthrough. Even if you don't know exactly where south dakota is he thought Arizona was south dakota, unless he was just bullshitting for the camera. But it's not just geography he's stupid about a lot of things.

It really is just baffling when you watch him struggle with the Geography quiz in Bully, and his general ignorance on anything outside of food. I guess he was able to just spit stuff back out from rote memorization, because he is wholly incapable of taking in new information and adapting from learning. I guess you also have to continue learning and apply what you've learned in some way to stay sharp after school.

God things got boring again so quick. Wake me up when the next loyal paypig hits puberty and breaks pignosis.
Seems like it's mainly OIC.

I do wonder if his screeching here on the Farms when people didn't sympathize with his plight as a disappointed paypig was acting or genuine, though.

But it's funny how predictable these people are. Every single paypig that I know of eventually came back to Phil. Such sad lives.

phil went to a catholic school for both college and high school.
what are the odds he had to learn super basic Latin at some point?
As someone substantially older than him and with a Catholic education (without the molestation), absolutely none. Seems Latin was standard in the 50s even in public school as my mother had mentioned it being required for her.
Odds are pretty high for pig Latin
Literally.
Did he actually say that?! That’s got to be one of the most idiotic things he’s ever said, if true… and that’s saying something.
Had to fill the quota for Daily Dose of Stupid.
I guess you also have to continue learning and apply what you've learned in some way to stay sharp after school.
When you think you are a know-it-all, there's nothing else to learn.
It's a sad existence because I can't believe all the things I've learned just from listening.

Kevin burnstein the whale got banned ( or 24h timeout ) because he was pissed Phil removed the vest and cowboy hat despite reaching 300$.

Kinggoken ( former mod and pedo freak with 50 IQ ) also got his ass kicked out after talking shit in chat about the three letter bitch doxing cultists.

How does his dick taste in your mouth KG? Funny how much power a non-mod has in his chat.

Agree. I also agree with @Pisstrooper when he says he thinks Dave is sub 90IQ.

Again besides food what does he know anything about? And even on that subject he's a total knuckle dragger and gets things wrong all the time.

The only skill I can think of he has is scamming the feeble minded. Everything he does or talks about is at low IQ levels, but again that is one of the aspects that makes him and his success so fascinating to follow and as times go on I tend to find his fanbase more interesting that Dave himself.

RE his most useful school subjects:
"British Literature, why? A lot of people over the years have said, 'Phil, you're very verbose guy. It seems that when you're--you're doing a vlog, you're doing a stream, you can use language that alotta people don't use. It's like not common language but then yo- alotta the times we even think you're saying the wrong word, but then we look it up and realize it's correct. That you're actually using a word that is, you know, not a common word that people would use in--in normal dialect, spoken dialect, but you use these words, you're a very verbose g-- you have a big vocabulary. Where did you get your vocabulary from?'"

H-O-L-Y SHIT, this man is the universal epitome of delusion.

Oh thats really good because just recently he said Brit Lit was the most pointless shit. And he laid his cards on the table and showed he didn't read shit. Because he called Great Expectations some boring novel about hoity toity society people drinking tea. I swear, this guy is like living in two timelines at once.

Man that would not surprise me because, actually, spoilering your power level seems like a cool idea

I am currently interning as a teacher because no fucking wonder we have a shortage, getting that degree is fucking rough. And my guy is like, oh shit you are super knowledgeable on history. Here, you can have my AP History class, so you can see what thats like. And I was like hell yeah. And gave em a paper. And half the class failed because they gave me copy pasted shit. I even had a kid just ctrl+a the whole thing. So the words Getty Images were in there.

Moral of the story. As someone who worked hard in high school and fell short of some one who became valedictorian because they tried even harder. I was impressed with Phil and deeply confused. Now I see that we were the flukes. Not Phil.

Phil is very verbose. The big problem is that he's verbose, but his grasp on English is weak and his vocabulary is limited at best. My favourite example of his verbosity is how he can't ever just say Washington. I can get clarifying that he lives in Washington state rather than Washington DC, but just say Washington state. He can't help himself but say the state of Washington. It's awkward and clunky, and only serves his ego, since he seems to think smart people talk like the smart character from cartoons (Brain from Arthur or Brain from Pinky and the Brain. Lotta Brains)

And let's move onto his vocabulary! He does know a good number of words, he just doesn't know what they mean. The DSPisms thread is full of great examples. The one that gets overused by him all the time is thus. Thus is a smart sounding word, at least in Phil's world, and smart people are the ones who use it. He might be able to impress his genuine fans with it, but anyone with any actual vocabulary thinks he's a retard because he shockingly uses it wrong. Thus is a formal way of saying "in conclusion" or "therefore" while he uses it as a stand in for "this". There's not even a secondary definition that defines it that way, I checked before writing this because I actually give a shit about using my words cromulently.

This shit is one of my favourite aspects of DSP's stupidity, mostly because I was/am a huge book and writing nerd. I also don't think less of people who issues with their vocabulary, because I'm aware of my own weaknesses. What annoys the shit out of me are people like Phil who lord over people with how "smart" they are. There's a useful rule of thumb I've found when it comes to determining who is and isn't smart: people who act better than other people are generally not as smart as they act, and people who are confident in their abilities and knowledge but humble and gracious to other people tend to be much smarter. Or at least, that's how it comes off.

The funniest thing about that whole segment is he seems to think that reading Comics broadened his vocabulary more than 'British Literature' which defeats the entire point he was trying to make. Also, what does he even mean by 'British Literature'? I'm assuming Shakespeare? At school in the UK we don't even read that much Classical Literature because the language used is so far detached from Modern English; I spent more time on Of Mice and Men than I did on Macbeth.

Well I would argue, I mean, I'm just being hanest ok? ok! alright ummm that the fact of the matter is that he's the guy, umm who knows all about Japanese culture by playing the yakuza series...but calls nato "soy food"

I don't understand why people are having such difficulty with the valedictorian thing. Is it really that hard to believe that Phil had a higher GPA than 29 Basketball-Americans? Just the fact that Good Boy Phil showed up to class every day and turned in something for every assignment probably put him at the top of that class.

I have the difficulty believing this man got a business degree tbh. No way a school lets someone who acts like this with their finances and "running a business" graduate

Things is, Phil is not capable of playing this game. He doesn't understand the "physics" of it, I think...

It's like someone said here, when he plays a racing game, he expects the car to do a 90 degree turn as soon as you push the stick... Also, he thinks that he's controlling the ball, not the stage apparently.
Phil was too poor growing up to ever play one of these s-l400.jpg

So cut him some slack, okay? SMB is a complicated physics based game not everyone can immediately grasp. It moves too quickly for chat to help him, too.

The biggest myth of the goutsphere is that his "business degree" had anything to do with running a small business. It didn't.
By all indications it was more like "Investment Banking 101", he probably learned things like what the difference between stocks and bonds is and why a company would issue one or the other.
