Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

A bit of a... not really a correction, so much as elucidation. Reagan didn't lead to the start of the neocons. Rather, he was a populist figure who got in term one and became a useful puppet as cognitive issues set in for term 2. The Uniparty was forming before Reagan ever got into office, he was merely the point that said party was able to come out more in the open and make several key gains. Look at Nixon and Ford for the real rise.
The neocons from the Nixon and Ford admins flocked to Reagan, like Cheney, Rice and Wolfowitz, They became emboldened during his tenure, especially when the USSR folded. They acted like Grenada was some sort of big win, ignoring all those Marines that got blown up in Lebanon. They ran cocaine to pay off the Contras and engaged in a bunch glownigger ops in Central America, I remember telling someone that Iraqis were not a bunch of poor peons caught in between Soviet spooks and US glowies and it was going to go south fast but I was laughed at.

After Fallujah I had the last laugh though.

Hence why I said it was less correction and more elucidation. They were around and got their start before Reagan, and seized upon Reagan as their chance to -flourish-. They expected to ride a rollercoaster of success with the senior Bush, but then he crashed and burned leaving an opening for the Democratic uniparty side to seize its own power. Around Bush the Junior they more or less merged into one.

My burning hatred for Cheney comes from his time as Sec-Def. Good God I developed a burning hatred for that bald headed trouser mouse.

It's even deeper by the fact he said this:

Because if we'd gone to Baghdad we would have been all alone. There wouldn't have been anybody else with us. There would have been a U.S. occupation of Iraq. None of the Arab forces that were willing to fight with us in Kuwait were willing to invade Iraq. Once you got to Iraq and took it over, took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq, you could very easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off: part of it, the Syrians would like to have to the west, part of it – eastern Iraq – the Iranians would like to claim, they fought over it for eight years. In the north you've got the Kurds, and if the Kurds spin loose and join with the Kurds in Turkey, then you threaten the territorial integrity of Turkey. It's a quagmire if you go that far and try to take over Iraq. The other thing was casualties. Everyone was impressed with the fact we were able to do our job with as few casualties as we had. But for the 146 Americans killed in action, and for their families – it wasn't a cheap war. And the question for the president, in terms of whether or not we went on to Baghdad, took additional casualties in an effort to get Saddam Hussein, was how many additional dead Americans is Saddam worth? Our judgment was, not very many, and I think we got it right.

Perfectly reasonable at the time.

Then fucking agitated for us to go back in so Bush Jr could "finish" a war that his Daddy "started" and he didn't understand a single fucking thing about. That was all about Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, and Bush Jr.'s fucking egos.

My man Dick Nixon was clued into the deep state half a century ago. He said in interviews that the CIA and State Dept basically did whatever they wanted and barely followed his orders. And he, not Trump, was the first to get unknowingly cucked from the nuclear codes on his last day in office.

If anyone cares, an update on Virginia and 2022:

"Younkin should be winning by 6 points, but because he wanted to distance himself from Trump, he is playing chicken with lowering the rural margins to not get killed in the suburbs and cities. It's very close because of this."

Republicans close strong. Many are swinging to Youngkin at the 4th quarter.

Biden is hilariously underwater in Virginia, more unpopular than he is nationwide. He is in the 30s of approval with Independants. He is dragging 2022 down with him. Virginia is only close because Biden voters are having massive regret, causing a 10% to 15% slip in his base of support.

It's going to be near impossible for Democrats to keep the House in 2022.

Cost of living is quickly if not already issue #1 in blue states. Jobs and the economy are #1 overall. COOF is a distant 3rd and falling fast.

Personally, Virginia is still leaning D, because Fairfax, the Dem stronghold announced they will withold counting any vote totals until everyone else reports theirs! Anyone hate these reruns of the same bullshit?

Are you sure he didn't engage in a little buttsnorkeling himself? I mean, he was in the Navy after all.
No he wasn't. He was a ground pounder. I is your Navy brat, born in a Navy hospital and served same for 12 years.

The term buttsnorkel was somewhat affectionate for our bubblehead Navy brothers who chose to live under the sea, instead of on top of it.

Go Navy.
