Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

@Gehenna what's your opinion on them continuing to push for mail-in voting and trying to purge witness requirements? Would you say this defies or is part of your "too little butter spread over too much bread" intel?
Not quite sure what you mean by that quote, but if you mean they have a lack of money hoooo boy yes. This is so blatant, so obvious, especially because they are doing it now when it looks like they might lose. Just kinda gives up the ghost that it somehow benefits them. But they don't have the funds for anything else. They can't afford to really contest Youngkin. Its desperation, and probably could get a legit challenge in congress unless their legislature signs off on it. Sadly their legislature is blue sooooo...

I think it's important to note that "pushing for" and "passing" legislation are two things that are sometimes separated by a wide gulf.

Listening to Biden now...while trying to sell his Trillion dollar agenda..hes telling old man stories. Hes so boring. You know what breeds voter confidence? "Ya know im from Scranton!!"

Edit: hes so desperate and doing "common man" appeal...meanwhile his son is selling shitty water color art for 500k a pop. This is so disingenuous
I always like when he mentions being from Scranton.

Stalin was still alive when Joe last lived there.

So you're saying they're only bothering to go this route because they're desperate & need things to be more loose than before?

Correct. They really don't want to add fuel to the fire of the fraud charges. Let alone less than a year out from the election. It only adds more fuel to the fire, but allowing Virginia's governor to go Red would be so much worse in the short-term.

The way they're so nonchalant about it seems like they don't see a problem with what they're doing, neither morally or by outside perception. Like, I know they hate Republicans with all their guts (not sure why though) but they have to know how guilty it looks. Are they just not self-aware or is this their idea of caution? It looks like an optics blunder.

Neither. "In for a penny, in for a pound". Everyone knows how the 2020 election actually went, at this point if they haven't left they are complicit and... well. If everyone knows, why hide it? They don't -want- to use it, but if its their only tool and they already did it on something bigger...

@Gehenna IK you specialize in WI politics but I'm curious on your take on NJ's election. It seems to be very likely that the Republican candidate will win and I'm curious how this will affect strategy in 2022.
I don't know anything about NJ politics in particular, so are you asking how it will affect NJ or the U.S. as a whole?

This is starting to look like it's shaping up more and more to be the dying days of the Democratic party. If they have to get by solely by cheating, that really suggests they're incredibly weak and can't win by appealing to actual voters.

I was under the impression that establishment Democrats were just careerists, why don't they just represent the people if going against the grain is this hard for them? Or are the progressives the main driving force behind this behavior?

Let's be clear here. The Democrats are overstretched, massively. They pushed too far, too fast, and now the tide of the backlash is hitting them again and again. The reason they keep pushing is that they can no longer back off, it's push or die.
But this would mean the longer they keep pushing, the harder they need to push every time to, to counteract the building momentum. That would be the escalation in heavy handed activity we've seen, right?

Because what I see happening down that road is you can only intensify your push so much before you leave the realm of legal activities, as they already seem to be stepping past. And the more underhanded behavior you engage in, and the more aggressively you do so, the odds of fucking up and getting caught goes exponential. Not just in their blatant fortification attempts, but in all their other activities.

Is this admin setting itself up for a legendary crisis and controversy when they get caught doing something so off the rails not even CNN can spin it positively? Because it seems they can either do that, or die on the vine like they've been doing with the Infrastructure bill.
