How's the music? Super Metroid and Prime had great atmospheric stuff going on. Very memorable.
Don't cut Fusion and Zero Misson short, there are some really good tracks in them.

With Nightmare's boss theme and Kraid's lair (respectively) being my favorite.

Anyways about Dread's music, it does the job well but there isn't really any standout tracks.

I would say that both of those games have “atmospheric” music in the sense that they set a theme for the level they’re in. Dread has what I’d call atmospheric music in the genre sense. It’s not bad, but you forget it’s there most of the time.

I will say that when a certain track comes up it's a very good rendition of Super Metroid's theme

I just finished it myself and I don't really have much to add to what's already been said, but Devil Trigger Metroid powers in future games PLEASE

And now I’m hoping they actually port the Prime trilogy to Switch. Is it really that hard to get the motion controls working on it or something? Okami works fine on the thing.

How did everyone feel about the motion controls in the Prime Trilogy? Personally I hated them and found aiming floaty. So much that I went out and got the Gamecube versions.
I'm in the minority that prefers the GC controls. I genuinely believe anyone who says the trilogy control scheme is better didn't play the wii game and emulated it with KBM controls.
Anyone try hard mode yet?
I have a hardmode run going that's up to right before ghavoran. I'm going to try and skip spore spawn and bumrush space jump and screw attack as per the current speedrun route.

For some reason both Escue and Golzuna (and Experiment No. Z-57 I think) have the same Core X, now I must say that I like how unsettling it looks but still it's a downgrade compared to Fusion.

Something to note is that Fusion's X Cores not only had a second variant that was able to shoot the laser upgrade it possessed but the sometimes the X inside was color to accordantly to the upgrade like Nightmare's.

Anyways I also want to bring up how despite Golzuna's intro being really cool, it doesn't make sense in the end because that's not how core X's work. It would be cool if we seen a bunch of other parasites come together to help the main out that comes out of the Muzby to create Golzuna kinda like how Arachnus' battle starts but that's sadly not what they did.

It just feels like they didn't fully understand how the X work with little things like how the X infect their prey (which was the problem with Samus Returns as well) to the ex machinas that are the Purple X Parasite and Quiet Robe in the ending.

I guess the game gave a warning shot about inconsistencies with first time you encounter one with the red X Parasite Zombie Chozo cutscene lol.

Either way these are just some blemishes on a great game.

I'm one of the few that genuinely prefer the Wii controls, but I do wish there was some options to tune the controls.

yeah that felt completely out of nowhere, especially as the last footage we saw of that chozo was of him reactivating the emmis, and suddenly the X just offers itself up on a silver platter? I guess we're supposed to believe that 'his strong willpower and faith in his adopted daughter allowed him to control the X parasite and save samus from herself', but it's the only part of the ending that feels corny to me.

as for the form itself, it looks like it's going to be the next set of mainline games' version of the hyper beam/ hyper mode/ the phazon suit. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
Before I start, Quiet Robe isn't one of Samus' many dads, he's just a Chozo that knows about her.

Anyways the X reactivating the E.M.M.I. doesn't make all that much sense to begin with, people like to bring up the line from Fusion where it's said that the X see Samus as such a threat that they would off themselves to kill her as well but those Xs at that time had to deal with her more while these X just literally just encountered her.

I guess one could say that she's half Metroid so they see her as a bigger treat by default which makes sense I guess, either way I just found it abit weird that was the first thing the X did when it got hold of Quiet Robe.

Something to note about the X is that the way they infect their prey seems to have been changed as early as Samus Returns with it's ending Hornoad cutscene.

Before it was that they would kill them from the inside and melt the skin off of them as seen with Serris (or they will break them into pieces in Ridley's case) and then afterwards they would have the creatures form to transform into at any time.

Now it seems like they just possess their bodies but I still think they killed them from the insides because it would be dumb if they didn't because the whole "fighting back possession thing" is really gay and overused.

And with that, another explanation for Quiet Robe in the ending is that because the X gain access to all of their pray's memories maybe their change of heart was formed by them realizing how really bad they are or whatever.

It's still pretty cheesy and doesn't make all that much sense when you remember that the X are a cold unfeeling parasite species that's whole goal is to rapidly multiply and find the strongest host but it's a lot better then already mentioned fighting back the possession idea.

I fucking hate that the Speed booster now needs to be activated by pressing the joystick. Some platforms are not wide enough to activate it and run at the same time without slipping off the joystick.

the speed booster puzzles are definitely the most annoying aspects of the game. Especially that one in Burenia(?) where you have to start like 4 rooms away from your actual target and you barely have enough room to even start a speedboost.

Turning in for the night after reaching Kraid and died (lel), but got a quick question. Is it okay to just shoot at his belly, or to truly beat him you have to climb the thorns he shoots out? Am curious because shooting at the prolapsed-looking hole long enough causes pus to ooze out (it's actually pretty gross) and I don't know if that does anything differently for the boss battle.

EDIT:

Aren't there mostly remixes from previous games being used? I swear Cataris' music sounds similar to the Space Pirates Appear theme in Super Metroid.

You can do that, or duck under them and then jump up to the magnetic pad behind you on the wall. That will lift you up, to shoot him in the face.

Oh sweet, was just curious if either option was correct. That makes sense, also is reminiscent of the idea of Kraid, had he remained in Prime, showing off his large size by keeping him two screens tall. The camera for it is probably cooler to see.

You only need to click it once to start activating it.

How is that better then activating it by just running?

Edit: for people who are on the fence about the game, there is now a demo.
