Yep the title comes from the saying "there's nowt so queer as folk" i.e. "there's nothing as strange as people". Usually said when you see someone doing something weird. Apt for this thread tbh

He's good at writing unlikable characters. I've not seen the American version but the British version hinges around a sex addicted narcissist, a pathetic sad sack who's in love with that narcissist and an underage twink who thinks he's hot shit and sooooo mature and has the world wrapped around his finger (he isn't and he doesn't). It's a spot on piss take of certain gay men archetypes and a good takedown of turn of the millennium gay culture.

You see it in his other works too - Richie in It's A Sin is a sympathetic character but is often selfish and a bad friend. An updated version of Queer as Folk could be good, but I'm pretty sure any trans characters would be written as perfect angels with no character flaws whatsoever.

It’s something that irks me. A disrespect not only of your parents, but your ancestors as well. It’s all just really really gross.

Names are a big deal, not just practically (there's a ton of studies on how your name affects how others see you and who you grow into as a person) but there's this whole other spiritual angle to it too.
