Edit:
So there's some drama that happened after the patch came out, specifically regarding a couple lines from Fang.
You know that NTR drama earlier in the thread? Well, that topic just came back up with a fiery passion.

Needless to say, people got upset immediately.

Then it turns out that the lines were joke ones and were accidentally left in the game since Ren'py can be shit at times.

Guess who had a hand in it?

Although he denies writing the lines himself and says that yeah, they were meant to be removed.

Soon after that whole mess, they patched it out.

And what do ya know, a few people (or a couple of them samefagging) were still salty as fuck about it and doomposting about how it ruined the game, how the devs totally couldn't handle the backlash and the NTR stuff was their true vision, and how the game is RUINED FOREVER!!!

I recognize the 40ish minutes of work reading this, snipping the highlights, and trying to make them look good with image uploading borked right now. You did a good job. You may cum now.

Howdy dinos, and Happy Halloween! We're coming to you live from the spookiest place on Earth: YOUR INBOX!! 👻

Dev Update:
After we reached a major milestone at the beginning of September, there were a few heavy-duty weeks of game performance assessment (both in-engine and in-game), and we locked in some features.
Very special shout out to our tech team, who for the past few months has been fully honed in on getting these goals met. Worry not: vacations are either currently occuring or on the horizon. Our mascot ini has seen to that.

One major element we've been working on is pipeline automation, which implicates narrative, storyboarding, and programming. When automation is flowing, it makes all of the other departments’ jobs so much easier!

The design team spent time prepping a document detailing the interaction archetypes and working on their integrations in the game. What's currently on the docket: the affinity system between Fang and all the game’s characters!!! (*shaking with excitement*)

How’s the art team doin’? The character art team has been hard at work on extras… extras who I heard y’all were interested in seeing more of... Well, more on that later! The background team's spent the past month focused on Volcano High (I'm not being intentionally obtuse here, I mean like literally backgrounds of the highschool). Have I ever shown you the roof, by the way? The Volcano High roof? Oh, it’s beautiful. Rosa spent so much time and energy getting the most beautiful assortment of plants up there, you wouldn't believe it.

So that’s the status report! Reply to this email or let us know in the Discord what you’re most interested to know about from the game so that we can work on some behind the scenes content for you!

Anime Club Spymaster

Hello hello students!! Here is an offering from the anime club: an early premiere of Trish's character sheet! I will also let you in on a little secret: Trish was the first character to ever be sketched for GVH, and she went through A LOT of iterations. Isn't she adorable and also the coolest?? xoxo
The two images in the newsletter:

It astounds me how they're able to fuck up a medium shot, much less the visuals themselves, this bad. Jesus Christ KO-OP, okay:
- The lighting is completely wrong; if the characters are supposed to be set up as they are in the image, Fang's shadow should be casting on at the very least one of them since the entire back of her person is blocking the sun. Also there's no shadow on the potted plant right next to Fang despite where the Sun is pointing, yet somehow the Sun is magically casting another ray in an entirely different direction at the potted plants way in the background behind the greenhouse...and another separate ray from that on the plants in front of the greenhouse!?!?
- Depth is fucked. Trish and Reed are standing in a diagonal line from each other when talking to Fang when at least one of them should be in the foreground and one in the background because...
- From where they're standing now, one of two things is happening depending on where you look: either Trish is looking at Fang from the right and Reed is staring off into space, or Reed is staring directly at Fang, and Trish is looking over her Fang's right shoulder. Either way, both of them cannot look at Fang at the same time due to this.
- For fuck's sake emote. One of the main reasons you do a shot like this is to get a handle on all of the character's current thoughts and feelings within a single scene, and instead we get Fang at least trying to emote with her shoulders crossed, Reed kinda just...there but listening, and Trish just standing in a stock pose with her head slightly tilted. You could have made this a shot-reverse-shot and literally nothing would change. Hell you could separate the image in half and you'd lose nothing. And coming from the extremely expressive poses of Snoot Game to this? I mean my God it just steamrolls the fuck outta this.

On that last bit, here's a game for those reading who don't believe me: take this still of Fang, Trish, and Reed and tell me in earnest without knowing anything about GVH: what are the main emotions on display? In regards to any of the three? Then compare that to any still of Snoot Game and do the exact same thing.

It's like an optical illusion, the longer you look at it the weirder it gets, and once you see these issues, you can't unsee them.
These may all be nitpicks to some degree but it's something I could let slide...if this was a visual novel. But it's not. At least according to KO-OP's own newsletters. And if they don't wanna be called a VN, then I'm gonna hold it to a higher standard (especially for the one of the "big name" games for the PS5). I don't point out shit like this in Snoot Game because it is a VN and knows it's a VN, and it uses the fact that it's composed mostly of middle shots with the equivalent of cutout puppets to its advantage and has fun with it.

...Goodbye Volcano High is, according to them, an "animated cinematic narrative rhythm game" wearing a 3D game's barely hidden skin. Going through 3 different versions of the game and delays in the process. And this is what they've got to show for it. *sigh*
...At least the backgrounds look nice.

that's the thing that really irks me about this screenshot too; they're standing so... lifelessly, especially trish who's standing like an army sergeant is breathing down her neck.
i'm hoping this was just unfortunate timing of the screenshot, but surely someone writing the update post would've noticed it and went "hey, this screenshot looks like shit!"

Considering a bunch of neckbeards in 4chan already made one, i guess not much, it is just that the people behind GVH lack both the talent and work ethic to make a game.
it's really amazingly shameful that some random assholes looking to just mock you already did everything you said you would do and better
